When those lab results come back negative, the MRI, ultrasound and CT scan are inconclusive and you are left with “We don’t see anything wrong, try (insert prescription medication here) and come back in 3 months”... It’s time to see a musculoskeletal expert.
PHYSICIANS are trained in seeking out PATHOLOGICAL CONCERNS. Imaging and lab tests don’t reveal improper movement patterns, altered muscle tone, weakness, tension, decreased joint mobility, etc.
Just because your doc comes back with negative test results does NOT mean your pain isn’t REAL.
Doctors of physical therapy go through 7 years of schooling followed by extensive post-graduate continuing education in order to become proficient in their areas of specialty. We 👏🏻 know 👏🏻 the 👏🏻 MUSCULOSKELETAL 👏🏻 system!
“Smih, I’ve tried PT and it didn’t work!”
What you DON’T want to see in a PT:
🔺 PT working with 3 patients at once
🔺 Spend most of your time with a “tech”
🔺 Cookie cutter treatment approach
🔺 You are a runner/weight lifter/athlete and all you work on are step ups (knee), bridges (back) and kegels lying on your back (pelvic floor) (see cookie cutter statement above^)
🔺 You see the PT 5 times and notice minimal improvement
🔺 You now have a list of 5 exercises you have to do every day for the rest of your life
What to look for in a PT:
✅ One on one care for a full session by a DPT
✅ Individualized treatment including moves and exercises specific to your functional goals
✅ Within session improvements after DAY ONE
✅ Knowledge of how to move properly as you lift/run/function so your results carry on for the rest of your life
