I spy with my little eye… something that might trigger an allergy 👁

From ragweed pollen to moldy leaves, fall allergens often cause symptoms like red, itchy eyes, a runny nose, a scratchy throat, and headaches.

The good news? Novant Health-GoHealth Urgent Care can help you identify the cause and manage symptoms of non-severe, non-life-threatening allergic reactions. However, seek emergency care immediately for severe or sudden symptoms that may indicate anaphylaxis.

Shoutout to our girl Khady! 🎉 She held it down with us for 2 years as a Patient Service Coordinator - PRN all while crushing nursing school (superwoman status 👏). In August 2024, she officially became a BSN grad from Chamberlain University! 👩‍⚕️💙

Fast-forward—Khady has now been working as an RN for 1 year (go, nurse life! 🙌) and is rocking it at Presbyterian Medical Center 🏥.

We’re so proud of her hustle, heart, and all the love she showed our patients while she was here. 💐 Help us celebrate Khady by dropping a 💖 or 🎓 in the comments!

Do doulas work?

March of Dimes researchers are on a mission to find out. It's almost universally agreed that doulas are a benefit to birthing mothers in hospitals, but exactly what benefit they have, and what is the best way for them to deliver that benefit, is not clear.

That's why physician-scientists at the March of Dimes Research Center for Advancing Maternal Health Equity and a partnering doula provider have launched a randomized controlled trial (RCT) testing whether doula integration throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum can decrease maternal depression and anxiety.

Listen to this month's MODCAST for all the details from two of the women at the center of the trial. https://marchofdimes.org/our-work/research/podcast

We believe every family deserves access to trusted, science-based information during pregnancy and the newborn period.

March of Dimes aligns with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists - ACOG and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (Foundation for SMFM) which recognize as one of the safest and most effective options for managing pain and fever during pregnancy when taken as directed. Fever during pregnancy can carry significant risks for both mom and baby.

We stand firm in our longstanding support for vaccines as the first line of defense against preventable diseases. Hepatitis B is a serious and potentially life-threatening infection that can be passed from mother to baby during childbirth or early infancy, which is why the vaccine is recommended within the first 24 hours of life.
