I’m honored to share that Cardinal Hospice Care has partnered with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library to host a monthly grief support group.

If you or someone you know is navigating loss, join me every second Tuesday of the month as we create space to reflect, heal, and feel seen—together.

Today’s presentation on anatomical gifting stirred something deep in me.

I couldn’t help but think about my grandmother—sharp, stylish, and always ahead of her time. She wasn’t just fashion-forward… she was forward-thinking in every way.

She made the powerful choice to donate her body to science, becoming what we call a “silent teacher.” That final act of generosity still teaches me about grace, purpose, and impact.

Seeing her picture today reminded me how much I miss her—and how proud I am to carry pieces of her legacy in everything I do.

My heart is with the people of St. Louis. So much has been lost, and I know the weight of grief is sitting heavy across the city. May comfort find every heart that’s grieving. May those who have stepped up to help be strengthened, protected, and reminded that their compassion is making a difference.

Grief after disaster runs deep and it’s not just the damaged or lost homes, but the sense of safety, security & normalcy too. To everyone mourning in our beloved St. Louis, your sorrow is seen, your pain is valid, and your strength is still standing, even if everything else is not. Healing may be slow, but hope still rises. In the words of one of my favorite poet Maya Angelou:
“You may trod me in the very dirt / But still, like dust, I’ll rise.” Hold on St. Louis.
