Beverly Kay Montezinos Tirsun, 95, passed away April 28, 2026 in Alpharetta, Georgia. Born October 14, 1930 in New York, she was the daughter of the late Russel Hall and Blanche E. Taylor. Beverly grew up in Utica, NY where she obtained her Associate degree in Chemistry from Utica College. Beverly married the late Eli Montezinos and moved to Charlotte, NC where she worked for about 20 years as a Chemical Technician in the Dye Stuffs Industry. During her time in Charlotte, part of her work resulted in a patent (US3925013A) that was issued in 1975.
Beverly retired and returned to school, completing a BA in Social Work at UNC-Charlotte at about the same time that Eli died (12/7/1983). She then attended USC in Columbia, SC where she obtained a Master's in Social Work. Upon graduating, Beverly acquired a position as a social worker for Mecklenburg County for about 10 years.
She was an active member of the Temple Beth El congregation since the 1950's where she taught Hebrew to elementary age students at their Sunday school. After the Jewish Community Center opened in 1986, she taught Hebrew classes there and that is where she met and later married Arthur Tirsun. Arthur was a highly regarded teacher of Bar Mitzvah students there and previously at Temple Israel.
Beverly and Arthur married on 8/19/1990. They subsequently retired from teaching to travel and lived in Matthews NC until his death (11/11/2004).
After Arthur's passing, Beverly moved to Alpharetta, GA to be close to her sons and granddaughter and lived there until her death (4/28/2026).
Beverly is survived by four sons: David, Eugene, Joel and Benjamin; a stepson, Daniel Tirsun; two granddaughters: Rachel Wilks and Beverly Montezinos; a great-grandson, Benjamin; and many more loving family and friends.
