Therapeutic Foster Care and Intensive Alternative Family Treatment offers each child a safe and nurturing environment in which the child’s needs can be assessed. During the child’s stay in therapeutic foster care, a licensed and fully trained foster parent has a positive influence on the child’s life by helping him or her deal with past traumas or behavioral health challenges.

The ultimate goal for therapeutic foster care is that each child return to the biological home after having made positive behavioral changes.

Support, Inc. Offers Evidence-Based Practices

According to the American Psychological Association, evidence-based practices integrate the best available research with clinical expertise and patient characteristics. The goal of evidence-based practice in psychology is to promote effective psychological practice and improve public health by applying empirically supported principles of psychological assessment, case formulation, therapeutic relationships and intervention.

Support Incorporated uses the ESFT Model for Intensive In-Home therapy. Eco-Systemic Structural Family Therapy (ESFT) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on understanding and addressing family dynamics within their broader environment. It’s particularly effective for families experiencing behavioral or relational challenges.

Support, Inc. was founded in 2001, after several years of planning and preparation, and began its operations in July 2002. Support, Inc.’s corporate office is located at 175 West Franklin Blvd. in Gastonia, NC. We currently contract with several MCOs in North Carolina. Our agency provides a continuum of services for children and adults.

The founding members founded the organization on the basic principle that MH/DD/SA services should be provided in a manner that promotes the respect and dignity of all served consumers.

Support, Inc. offers Family Centered Treatment (FCT) in Gaston, Cleveland, Catawba and Lincoln counties as well as in the greater Charlotte area. FCT is an evidenced-based and trauma-informed treatment model and a clinically credentialed training program for both the supervisor and practitioner. FCT is delivered in the client’s home by a primary certified practitioner backed by strong team and supervisory support. The FCT model utilizes eco-structural family behavior therapy and emotionally-focused therapy models.

FCT views the family as the client and works collaboratively with the entire family system in a strengths-focused manner to improve areas of family functioning that are directly impacting the child’s identified behavioral and mental health symptoms. Families complete activity-based interventions in a collaborative manner and in a strategic order to lead to changes in family functioning.
