Why I teach meditation......
LAKE NORMAN MEDITATION·MONDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2018·
In 2015 I discovered meditation full time. I undertook a certification course from the McLean Meditation Institute in Sedona, Arizona. It was a 200 hour course where the last 8 days were spent training in Sedona with Sarah McLean, a well renowned author, teacher, and speaker on the subject of meditation. Since then, I h

ave taught students how meditation can change their lives. It is a subtle change over time where you learn to rest and digest information, rather than react to everything that comes your way. Being an anxious person by nature, this has helped me to find equanimity in my daily life. I highly encourage everyone to undertake some form of meditation in their daily lives. I currently teach at Community Yoga in Cornelius, NC, but am happy to set up a session or sessions for you and your friends in your home or workplace. I completed study with the great Jack Kornfield in January 2019 at Kripalu in Massachusetts and hope to bring the Buddhist perspective to my teachings, called Vipassana, in the new year. While entirely secular (non-religious) it is interesting to study the ways that meditation and mindfulness has been brought to our western culture.

FREE!

If you’ve fallen off your routine of daily meditation, I suggest you scale back the amount of minutes you commit to. 10 minutes everyday is better than a long meditation a couple of times a week. Consistency is the key. I use Insight Timer which is a free app for your phone. You may just use the timer with lovely background music and interval bells that you set. You may also do one of the hundreds of guided meditations on the site. Oh, and did I say it’s free?

My meditation teacher used to use the acronym RPM. Rise, p*e, meditate. Meditating first thing in the morning sets your intention for the day and allows you to begin your day in peace.
