This month, our book club is reading stories that demand attention, tell the truth plainly, and challenge systems that have caused real harm - historically and today.
Our February reads are:
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
-and
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
These books confront racism, exploitation, medical ethics, police violence, and the long shadow of systemic injustice - not as abstract ideas, but as lived experiences. They center Black voices, Black lives, and Black history in a way that is honest, uncomfortable at times, and absolutely necessary.
February is about learning, remembering, and reckoning. These reads invite us to listen more closely, question more deeply, and show up more intentionally in our own lives and communities.
Are you joining us by reading one... or both?
