This Halloween, don't let spooky vision problems trick you out of a good time! Before you head out for trick-or-treating or costume parties, keep these eye safety tips in mind:

- Skip decorative contact lenses from costume shops - they're not FDA approved and can cause serious eye infections. If you want colored contacts for your costume, get them from a licensed eye care professional with a proper prescription.
- Make sure masks don't obstruct your peripheral vision, especially when driving or walking in the dark.
- Parents, consider adding reflective tape to costumes to help kids stay visible to drivers.

Have a safe and spook-tacular Halloween!

In the past, patients with inherited retinal diseases like retinitis pigmentosa had few treatment options. Today, genetic testing and gene therapy are transforming how we diagnose and treat these conditions.

Our blog explores how advances in genetic panels now allow doctors to identify specific mutations rather than generic diagnoses, and how the first FDA-approved gene therapy, Luxturna, is offering new hope to patients with certain genetic variants. https://www.horizoneye.com/blog/inherited-retinal-disease-and-gene-therapy

With 2 million Americans having undiagnosed glaucoma, regular screenings are crucial for protecting your sight.

Many eye diseases can only be diagnosed by eye doctors, and early detection makes all the difference in preserving your vision and overall health.

As we transition into cooler months, here's something you might not know: cooler, drier air can significantly impact your eye comfort.

Indoor heating systems compound the problem by further reducing moisture in the air. Simple solutions like using a humidifier, staying hydrated, and taking breaks from screens can help maintain comfortable vision throughout the season.

If dry eyes persist, our specialists can provide personalized treatment options to keep your vision clear and comfortable all season long.

Your cornea is like your eye's windshield - this transparent, dome-shaped layer provides up to 75% of your eye's focusing power.

Here are some fascinating facts: it contains no blood vessels but has a dense nerve supply, completely replaces itself every 7-10 days, and is the most successfully transplanted tissue in medicine.
