Today is NC DAC Diabetes Alert Day and this matters for all of us who are working with, living with, or supporting people with diabetes.

Diabetes impacts daily life in ways that go beyond numbers. It affects routines, stress levels, decisions, and overall well being.

For me, it’s also personal. I live with Type 1 diabetes, so this isn’t just something I talk about, it’s something I navigate every day.

Does this sound familiar? You’re constantly measuring yourself by what you accomplish. Every milestone, every achievement, every task checked off feels like it determines your value.

But what if it doesn’t?

What if your significance isn’t in the results, the recognition, or the things you can show for yourself?
What if the effort you put in the consistency, the courage to try, the resilience to keep going… matters just as much as the outcome?

Today, take a moment to pause and reflect. Notice the progress you’ve made, even in small ways. Celebrate the steps you’ve taken that might not be visible to anyone else.

Give yourself permission to acknowledge your achievements without tying them to approval, comparison, or external validation. You’ve done enough, and you are enough, even if the next milestone hasn’t arrived yet.
