At Shining Hope Farms, we see you.
Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or another family member providing care, we know the commitment it takes. You’re the advocate, the steady presence, the constant source of love and support—day in and day out. And because you give so much, you need care, too.
Many of our families tell us how much peace and calm they already feel simply by being on our farm while their child is in therapy. With Care for the Caregiver, we’re taking that one step further—providing dedicated mental health counseling designed specifically for you.
Why Care for the Caregiver?
Caring for a child with high needs can be deeply rewarding—but it can also feel overwhelming at times. Research shows:
Family caregivers report significantly higher stress levels than the general population.
1 in 4 caregivers experience symptoms of depression (CDC).
60% say they rarely or never have time for themselves (National Alliance for Caregiving).
You deserve support, too. That’s why we’ve designed Care for the Caregiver to make it as easy and accessible as possible.
How It Works
Convenient: Sessions can be scheduled during your child’s therapy appointment (availability dependent)—you already have built-in childcare or time set aside, so there’s no need to plan an extra trip.
Professional: Sessions are led by licensed mental health counselors (LCMHC, LCSWA) and billed to your health insurance, including Medicaid and Medicaid managed care plans.
Flexible: Prefer a different time or need telehealth? We can work with you to schedule outside of their therapy session, too.
Time-Friendly: Sessions are approximately 40–45 minutes, ensuring you’re available for your child’s transition at the end of their appointment.
Future Group Counseling Opportunities
In addition to one-on-one counseling, we’re planning group counseling sessions for caregivers—an opportunity to connect with others who understand what it means to support a child with special needs/a disability and share encouragement in a safe and welcoming environment.
If you’re interested in group counseling, please let us know so we can determine availability and group times.
