Motherhood is a beautiful and transformative journey that brings immense joy and fulfillment…..
But in this world , it also comes with its fair share of challenges and pressures, especially for us. The intersectionality of being a mother and a woman of color can create unique stressors that impact mental health. In this blog post, we will explore the importance of prioritizing mental health for Black mamas and provide valuable insights and strategies to support their well-being.

1. The Weight of Expectations:
We often face societal expectations and stereotypes that can contribute to increased stress levels. The pressure to be a "strong Black woman" who can handle everything can be overwhelming. Acknowledging and challenging these expectations is crucial to promoting mental well-being.

2. Addressing Historical Trauma:
Historical racial trauma and systemic injustices can have long-lasting effects on mental health. Understanding the impact of these experiences and seeking healing and support is essential. Engaging in culturally competent therapy or joining support groups can be beneficial for processing emotions and fostering resilience.

5. Seeking Professional Help:
Therapy and counseling can be immensely valuable for Black mamas in managing their mental health. Finding a culturally competent therapist who understands the unique challenges faced by Black women can provide a safe and validating environment for healing and growth.

6. Empowering Mindset Shifts:
Cultivating a positive mindset and reframing negative thoughts can contribute to mental well-being. Emphasizing self-compassion, challenging perfectionism, and celebrating achievements, no matter how small, can help Black moms build resilience and develop a healthier relationship with themselves.

I said all of that to say mental health is essential for Black mamas to navigate the complex landscape of motherhood. By recognizing the impact of societal expectations, addressing historical trauma, practicing self-care, building support networks, seeking professional help, and fostering empowering mindset shifts, Black mamas can nurture their souls and embrace the joy, strength, and resilience that lie within them. Remember, taking care of your mental health is an act of love, both for yourself and for those you care for.

How come they’re vegetarian/vegan but they’re GAINING weight!!!!

A lot of people start out and quit quickly with being a vegan or vegetarian because in my opinion the fake meats…

Hear me out…
When majority of people go vegan they load up on the fake meat. Which is ok in moderation…
But it’s used in every meal.
Now keep in mind this stuff isn’t natural and it’s loaded with sodium and preservatives. These amongst other things cause high blood pressure and makes you retain water… so yea.. you’re gaining “weight”

It’s a lifestyle change… and you have to think of food like a drug.
It’s a addiction and habits that have to be broken. Food is a drug..(FDA, why would they group food and drugs together??)

So now that you’re thinking of food like a drug think of the fake meats like a ni****ne patch/gum/methadone etc...
These things are not meant for long term use and long term use or regular use results in a whole nother issue… (fake meats.. your blood pressure probably wasn’t as high before huh)

So my suggestion just with starting any new lifestyle… it’s ok to have a crutch or help to ease you into the new lifestyle….
some people CANT go cold turkey (some literally can not due to current health issues. Example if you’re depressed as I am and say I went cold turkey from processed sugar my body will experience a “withdrawal” that may be worst due to my mental health state at the time)

But set a time limit for using that crutch and reduce the use gradually as you go. And just like training wheels one day you’ll say “fck it!! I’m fine”!!!

Get a food diary and write it down!!
If you don’t have a good diary contact us we’ll get you journal and writing utensils!!!

It’s taco Tuesday…. Soooo
🗣️PUT SOME HOT SAUCE ON MY BURRITO BABBBYYYYYYY!!! YEEEAAA YEAYEA YEA YEAA!!!
