It wasn't awful. There are some valid points in there.

But the Secretary misses the mark—again—by not seriously attempting to discuss any real reforms, no talk of decreasing barriers to care, etc.

I published something deeply personal yesterday.

It’s about my mom, grief, estrangement, addiction, and what EMDR unexpectedly helped me understand years after her death.

For a long time, I carried a lot of shame about the boundaries I set and the complicated emotions I had near the end of her life. Somewhere along the way, I started quietly wondering if distancing myself meant I didn’t really love her.

What I eventually realized was far more complicated than that.

Writing this was difficult, but it also felt important. Not just because of my story specifically, but because I think a lot of people carry guilt and confusion around complicated family relationships, especially when love and self-protection collide.
