In an AWESOME NEWS UPDATE! UVA check up went fantastic! My transplant doc is over the moon happy with my results. I got my 12mo baby vaccines, I can start to schedule live vaccines 💉 and the all clear for 6-8 months! Still moving forward with easy peasy maintenance chemo every 8 weeks locally and I won’t need scans again for quite awhile!! Can I get a HELL YEAH!

Just around the 7 month post transplant mark and feeling ok! Things are definitely improving as I find my way to a new normal. October hair update - baby soft, curly and puffy I had 2 A+ doc checkups today. First up my blood work looked fantastic and transplant doc said I was good to start my baby vaccines. It was bound to happen. I managed to escape Covid for 2.5yrs until Monday. Now I’m Covid positive. Thanks to having received both of my Covid vaccines, my symptoms have not landed me inpatient. My pulse ox hasn’t dipped below 94 and didn’t have a damn fever until I arrived at UVA today! I do feel ‘flu-ish’ but am managing ok (I remember being far sicker earlier this year, holding on to that)....

Maintenance ready Today I started maintenance treatment locally here in Richmond. I’m receiving Rituxan Hycela every 8 weeks for 2 years. So let’s dig in just a smidge on what this is. Rituxan is a monoclonal immunotherapy drug. It’s commonly paired with chemo for blood cancer peeps. When given on its own, it’s typically considered maintenance. I’ve had it both ways with each and every treatment I’ve ever received (including transplant)....

Waiting Pro Bad news - That pesky lung nodule discovered in Dec 2021 is still hangin on. It’s already been biopsied and returned with mostly inconclusive results. My pulmonologist truly thought it would be gone by now and can’t explain why it’s giving the uptake that it is during my Petscan. He said he would give it less than a 5% chance of being cancerous....

Day +100 was super special. My sisters crew hosted a party to celebrate. Have I mentioned how awesome they are?! The theme of the party was ‘Cake, cold cuts and cancer free’. It was so great to be surrounded by loved ones as I passed that milestone along with a trusty Covid vaccination. Next milestone is 6 months post transplant (Sept 18th)....

Thank you UVA Health Scanday results are in and my new name is NED! For those in the back…MY NAME IS NED! NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE!!!!! After being injected with radioactive contrast, I have to wait an hour before scans. Oh and I got to sip on barium while I waited (🤢) Petscan only takes about 20 mins This means I’m in FULL remission, my Petscan results are as boring as a cancer muggles....

Well kiss my grits and my buns! I got 2 injections in each cheek today of Evusheld. Since I am unable to receive any vaccines until after day +100, I received Evusheld in its place. Evusheld is a way for me to receive Covid antibodies before being able to get the vaccine (again). I’m sure I’ve mentioned, but it bears repeating, all of my vaccines (from infant on) are gone....
