This morning was a wonderful reminder of why I teach. Reminding people how to move with their breath. That bodies hold inherent wisdom. That even amidst the world’s madness, we can tune in, regulate, and find our own stillness.
So deeply grateful for this practice.

I have 3 workshops in the next 3 months. Which is weird because...
I don’t think of myself as “a leader”, I think of myself as a student. I’m eager to learn. Being a life-long student is great, but it has a flip side, which is self-doubt. I doubt that I have things to offer. I doubt I should be “in charge.” This mindset though does myself a disservice...

Self-realization (and self-liberation) is one of the aspects that Yoga offers. It’s an opportunity to reflect, and ultimately, to act upon.

The rare birch tree.

Birch trees are rare, and they stand out.

One little birch tree can bring forth another birch tree, which can then spawn four, then eight, and so on and so forth.

The seeds of yoga are like this. One little planted seed of yoga may feel minor, it may even feel like it’s easy to dismiss, but that tiny seed plants another seed. Those seeds, one on top of another, they don’t just add up, they MULTIPLY.

It’s more than just an hour of practice, it’s more than a stretch, it’s cumulative.

Rarity like birch trees is amongst us and most importantly, it’s within us.

Plant your seeds.

I’m practicing yoga on the mat and OFF the mat.
I’ve been prepping for Tim Feldmann, coming here in May.
I’ve been setting up for skiing.
Learning to be still like the Pines.
I’ve been practicing.
I’ve been loving my dog.
I’ve been absorbing.

It’s easy to NOT practice.
I tell students that sometimes the most advanced pose is leaving the house to go to yoga.

PRACTICE.

The path is not always clear.
It’s blurry, we get lost, we lose our way.
We get aggravated. We despair.
We look around and wonder, why is it so easy for so-and-so?!
Perhaps it’s not?
So…
We regroup, we plan, and often, we stumble again.

The stumble, the despair, the lost way…this is not what defines you.
What defines you is
how you pick yourself up
how you start again.

Starting again is ALWAYS an option.

We have a gorgeous workshop for beginners this Saturday, 12:30-3. Not only for beginners, but also for lifelong students, aspiring teachers, or “experts” who would like:
-seated meditation practice
-learn a pranayama technique
-learn how to adjust the body
-learn the most basic of yoga sequencing

Under the “teacher training” workshops in our profile.

Especially now, I find solace in the practice.
I need this place and time to center and stay grounded, especially when the news is too much, and the reports are heartbreaking, and the images feel like my heart is torn out of my chest.

I need this quiet place to stay grounded
… so that I can continue to stand up.

Turn towards the light.
Look for the beauty.
Have pancakes.
Dance a wee bit (or a lot).
Learn something new.
Call a friend.
Light a candle.
Walk amongst trees.
Listen to a song.
Read something, anything, on paper.
Hold someone’s hand.
Hug too long and too hard.
Do yoga.
Practice.
Practice and practice and practice.
