Representing products and services to serve multiple specialties. Associated with Double Barrel Medical and MRGS Medical Quick story time --
My first exposure to the operating room was as an undergraduate student volunteer, terminally sterilizing rooms on Friday afternoons, at the old Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA in 2007 and 2008. From time to time, I'd be allowed to stand in the corner of the room during a surgery -
"Don't say anything, don't touch anything, just watch and try to learn something." I'll never forget my first orthopedics case. There was a rep in there, only I didn't know he was a rep. I saw someone who was clearly very knowledgeable of the procedure, working closely with the surgeon and staff, providing guidance as needed, pointing out instruments on the back table, and answering questions related to the devices. He wasn't gowned, gloved, and directly contacting the sterile field. "Who's that?" I asked a nurse. "That's the rep." Huh. I had never heard of that job. Over the next year or so, I was fortunate to be a fly on the wall in dozens of surgical procedures, and many of those had reps in the room. That certainly stuck with me. I didn't know it at the time, but this would ultimately be a turning point in my life. A foreshadowing, if you will...
Flash forward. I am blessed to have nearly 15 years of medical device sales experience. I've covered thousands of surgeries across multiple specialties, in multiple states, and represented dozens of product lines. I have also worked with providers in the office setting to facilitate ancillary services and provide helpful resources to meet the needs of the ever-changing clinical landscape. And I will continue to work hard to be an asset in the OR, and in the clinic, for as long as I am able. As an independent contractor, I have the flexibility, autonomy, and unique opportunity to serve physicians' needs in multiple ways. All-encompassing problem solving. That's the goal. I am a proud husband and father to two amazing kids. Nothing is more important to me than family. MZR Medical was named after my mother. She's awesome.
