Parkdale Center

Parkdale Center Parkdale Center for Professionals specializes in full-spectrum treatment of substance use disorder. They may even be facing legal action.

Parkdale serves professionals throughout North America by helping those suffering with substance use find success in recovery for themselves, their families, and their career. Our patients are typically well-educated, successful, career-minded people. They include doctors, nurses, lawyers, pilots, business owners, and executives, among many others. Naturally, the consequences of their substance use can be severe and life-changing. They may be in danger of losing their jobs, their licenses, and their certifications. Parkdale Center offers a 4-6 week Partial Hospitalization Program where patients live onsite in an open, sober living environment. We also offer flexible and secure tele-health Intensive Outpatient and Aftercare Programs. To support loved ones, we offer weekly Family Support Zoom meetings. We also conduct regular, in-person Family Programs designed to educate and empower our patients' families and loved ones. We also offer career retention and restoration assistance and support so our patients can keep or regain their jobs, certifications, and licenses. Parkdale Center itself is beautiful, quiet, and private but easily accessible by all means of travel. We are near many local amenities like restaurants and shops, just 10 minutes from Indiana Dunes National Park, an hour east of Chicago, and an hour west of South Bend, IN. Parkdale Center does accept private insurance. Unfortunately, we do not participate in Medicare, Medicaid, or any public, state-funded insurance programs.

At Parkdale Center, we know that everyone’s needs are different when it comes to treating substance use disorders (SUD). Some people who are struggling with a SUD can experience symptoms of withdrawal when they stop using drugs or alcohol.

The effects of withdrawal on the body and mind can differ from person to person, but they can be uncomfortable and dangerous when not addressed correctly. Withdrawal symptoms typically occur 6-24 hours after someone with a dependence stops using. The severity and duration of withdrawal are dependent on the length of time abusing the substance, the type of substance abused, family history, and medical and mental health history.

Parkdale’s Withdrawal Management Program gives you guided, individualized support throughout your withdrawal. Get in touch!

Addiction affects everyone. Families often enable the addicted individual to maintain balance.

The same thing occurs in the workplace. When the addiction finally reveals itself in the workplace it is often asked:“Why didn’t anyone say something sooner?” After looking more closely it is apparent that the talons of addiction are not only embedded in the addict, but also in the families and coworkers that unknowingly enable their behavior.

The statistics around anxiety are significant–nearly 1 in 5 adults experience an anxiety disorder each year, and almost a third of U.S. adults will experience an anxiety disorder in their lifetime.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), while less prevalent, is estimated to affect more than 1 out of 100 adults each year. The possibility that we know someone with one or both of these diagnoses or have them ourselves is very real. The purpose of this blog post is to provide a few practical ways to support a friend or loved one who may be dealing with OCD and anxiety.

The CDC defines workplace stress as the “harmful physical and emotional responses that occur when the requirements of the job do not match the capabilities, resources, or needs of the worker.” When job requirements are out of alignment with the needs and tools of a worker, it can lead to poor physical and mental health, increased stress, poor sleep, and employee burnout.

Examples of workplace stressors include concerns about job security, finding time to work while juggling caregiving responsibilities at home for children or aging parents, physically demanding or dangerous work, and blurred boundaries of work and life, making disconnection and rejuvenation difficult.
