TODAYS TOPIC: Amino Acids

Amino acids are the fundamental units that make up protein & they play an essential role in nearly every biological process in the body. They are involved in building & repairing muscle tissue, producing enzymes & hormones, supporting immune function & serving as an energy source under certain conditions. We require 20 different amino acids, 9 of which are considered essential because the body cannot produce them and must obtain them from food.

When it comes to supplementation 2 groups of amino acids are often discussed. Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs-leucine, isoleucine & valine) are unique because they can be directly oxidized in muscle tissue and are closely tied to muscle protein synthesis. Leucine in particular plays a signaling role in turning on the process that leads to muscle growth and repair. Essential amino acids (EAAs) include all 9 that the body cannot synthesize. Because muscle protein synthesis requires all of the essential amino acids, EAAs are more comprehensive than BCAAs alone.

Research has shown that consuming amino acids, especially EAAs, can stimulate muscle protein synthesis. However, this process is most effective when all the required amino acids are present in sufficient amounts. That is why dietary protein which naturally provides the full spectrum of amino acids, is considered the most complete source. Supplements are often studied in the context of fasted exercise, calorie restriction or endurance training, where readily available amino acids may help reduce muscle breakdown and support recovery.

The store originated inside Body By Design gym at 600 E Carlson with only 300sq ft of room. In 2013, and two moves later, Nutrition Company of Cheyenne has grown to be the largest health and fitness supplement store in Wyoming at over 3000 sq ft. Located at 1802 Dell Range - Across from Pet Co and next to Brown and Gold Outlet.

In late 2018 we opened our second location in Cheyenne at 1620 E Pershing, next to Gold’s Gym and expanded our supplement selection and teamed up with AgeLess medical to have a clinic inside our store offering medical injections for botox, fillers and laser fat removal. Nutrition Company of Cheyenne continues to offer the largest selection of National Brand supplements as well as exclusive brick and mortar only brands. Out employees maintain certification standards and are not paid by commission - no bait and switch tactics used here. We are truly locally owned and operated, meaning I actually live in Cheyenne and work in the stores. Additionally we return over $8k annually back to the local community in various donations and sponsorships. Our pricing is competitive, combined with our shop from the shelf and well educated staff we are hard to beat. If you do find better pricing - we match on the same deal on the spot!
