Why choose an out-of-network doctor for your care? ๐ฉ๐ปโโ๏ธ
I have a high-deductible PPO health insurance plan. My daughter recently needed to see a specialist, so I started the search. My pediatrician gave me recommendations, and I also asked friends if they had anyone they liked. I then went to the insurance directory to see who was in-network, because of course it makes sense to use an in-network doc, right? I wonโt need to pay as much if I go in-network, right? Well, I couldnโt find anyone from my procured list who was in-network, but after looking at websites and watching videos and hearing more recommendations from friends and family, I found the perfect out-of-network doctor who had everything I wanted:
โ
Experience
โ
Convenient location
โ
Accessible office
โ
Friendly and competent office staff
โ
An appointment within a week
โ
Highly recommended
I chose this doc because I want the best for my family, though there was this part of me that still felt hesitant to use an out-of-network doctor.
And you know what? I couldnโt have made a better decision. We saw this specialist 3 times last year, paid our out-of-pocket expenses after the insurance was billed, and never even got close to our deductible. Even if we had gone to an in-network doctor, we would have paid the same amount because we never would have reached our deductible. The physician was amazing - he spent time with us, answered our questions, included us in the decision-making, had a wonderful bedside manner, and my daughter actually looked forward to her visits! ๐ And the peace of mind to know that I went to the doctor I wanted to go to was worth every penny. ๐ช
Donโt base your decisions on the insurance companiesโ rules and options. They are set up to make the insurance companies as much money as they can make. ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฐ Make your medical decisions based on getting the best care out there for you and your family. You will not regret it.
I know I donโt. ๐๐๐
