Living a healthy life isn't just heading to the gym or whats on your plate. True holistic wellness focuses on mental, emotional, and social health too. uia, it is extremely hard to unplug and take care of our own wellbeing. If you tend to put yourself at the end of the priority list, that not only means you're neglecting yourself but everyone who relies on you as well. You need to put on your own air mask (pun intended) before you can truly help others.
So, how do you go about including self care into your life? Personally I have to make it something I do, or else it doesn't get done. I came up with a list of self care ideas, but self care is not one size fits all.
1. get off social media and read a book/magazine for an hour
2. Sit on the front porch. Just. Sit.
3. take a bath, if you choose, add candles and music
4. give yourself permission to indulge in something that you enjoy
5. Random dance parties
6.Go for a drive, no destination required.
7. Say no to someone
8.Write a letter to an old friend.
Diet also tends to suffer when under stress. If you can change HOW you eat, if can also help mental well being. Currently, I decided to do a 30 days to health "thingy" (I'm not sure if I can call it a diet), because I've been eating like crap during this pandemic. My goal with that is to ease my lupus symptoms and get into better health.
