The message I just woke up to 🙌🏽

Non-scale victories no one talks about…

Wives, come here. Let me talk to you for a sec.

We’re in Texas and the A/C went out 😒

So that means: air mattress + a big, dumb fan in the living room for survival mode.

I’m laid up on the floor, legs propped up on my husband — and he hasn’t said a single word.

And I know that might not sound like a big deal.
But for me, this moment means everything.

Because years ago, when I was 88lbs heavier,
I did the same thing — rested my legs on him.

And after just a minute or two, he gently pushed them off and said they were heavy.

Now, don’t get it twisted — he wasn’t being mean.

He was just stating a fact.

But the way it felt?
Whew… it made me feel like 💩.
Not soft. Not feminine. Just… heavy.
Physically, emotionally, mentally.

So today, when I put my legs up again… I hesitated.
I braced myself, expecting the same response.

But this time?
He didn’t flinch. He didn’t move.
He fell asleep — with my legs still resting on him.

And it just reminds me that I made the right choice.

I didn’t lose 88lbs for a number on the scale.
I did it to feel like me again.
Light. Soft. Confident. Feminine.

They’ll never make me regret this journey.

Literally, that just happened to me.
Before I even reached my seat, she said she couldn’t stop staring at me.

Hid behind big, baggy clothes.

We’ve been in Texas for 7 days without a stove. 😩

The new one isn’t scheduled to arrive until 7/22.

So this past week, I’ve eaten out multiple times — Mexican and BBQ, which means tortillas, rice, potato salad, ribs, brisket… the works.

And guess what?

The scale has not gone up.

Yes, I’ve eaten restaurant food — and I’m not gaining weight.

The old me would’ve apologized and probably deleted the post.

But now?

Don’t let the small stuff set you back.

In Chicago, we had the treadmill in the basement.

I’d get up in the morning (I prefer exercising in the morning), put a blanket on the floor with plenty of toys and let Aiden do his thing.

But in Texas, we have no basement so the treadmill is in the garage.

Putting a blanket down isn't an option right now.

The old me would've been like "welp! Looks like I can't work out" and never worked out again in life 😅.

But since I've been focused on just having a healthier lifestyle, I see opportunities:

1) I can work out in the bedroom (yes, it's big enough)

2) take Aiden outside for a walk (after I douse us in bug repellent -- these Texas mosquitoes are a different breed)

3) Aaron has to be at work later now so I can still get up earlier and workout (if I wanted to)

The point is I actually have MORE options now even with minor setback.

One thing that I've learned throughout this whole journey is life will always start life-ing but it's not the setback that matters... it's how you handle it.

Happy birthday to mommy’s miracle baby. For years, I thought I couldn’t even have children and then finally, I got my first plus+ sign -- showing us that we would be welcoming our first (and only) child for our 10 year wedding anniversary.
