Once upon a time โ€” before I was a trainer, and as I was learning I was hypermobile โ€” I found a woman on the internet who specialized in mobility training.
โ“I asked how her program would differ for hypermobile people.

The exercises are often the same. But the intention, methodology, and ex*****on?

Take the middle splits.
Iโ€™m not chasing my end rangeโ€ฆ Iโ€™m building control within a range I can ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ต๐˜ถ๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ๐˜ฏ.

Iโ€™m almost never passive or relaxing into a position, because for hypermobiles who donโ€™t yet understand their range, thatโ€™s ๐—ฒ๐˜…๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—น๐˜† how injuries and subluxations happen.

When I do pancakes (as shown in video), Iโ€™m not only engaging my core and hips...

When I subluxed my hip in that exact exercise, I relaxed...and it popped. Non-hypermobile people would probably be fine.

A weak arch or an unstable ankle doesnโ€™t just stay in your foot. It travels up the chain & shows up somewhere else entirely.
