Custom baseball for the dear friend of a dear friend. If I’m doing the math right, I think that makes us friends.

Handmade from an old pair of boots. Each panel is cut from the side and back quarters retaining factory markings. The woven label was transferred from the back side of the tongue and sewn to the north panel on the ball. The salvaged tongue material was used on the box top. I love how the years of work and service have created burnished lines from the laces and creases and scuffs across the surfaces. Super cool project that calls for a big thank you to John for the opportunity. If this snow ever melts, I hope Eric has a chance to toss it around with his kids.

The Mitchells know how to party. Custom baseballs with two color foil embellishments. Ooo la la. Met these fine folks Bridge Fest, so naturally the color scheme is a nod to Pittsburgh. Color registration is not an easy task and these have the added difficulty of the family crest being laid down in two color hot foil. Very pleased with how they came out.

One of the great joys of my job is helping people celebrate the lives of loved ones. Some of those people have just arrived with tears of joy and others have left with tears of sadness. This ball, and four others like it, was made from a glove that was worn by a father and grandfather who left an indelible mark. He’s not around to play catch anymore, but his family can play catch with him wherever they are. For privacy reasons, I’ve omitted some of the cooler details here - like the large ink name that spans an entire panel, and his phone number below it. Other details, like the palm lining with a worn-in impression of his hand are evidence of a life well lived.

It’s all good fun.

Been a minute. Or a month, maybe two. Still here.

Made some really cool stuff leading up to the holidays that wasn’t really appropriate to share before they were received and I’m now in a spot where I can post that stuff. Could have done it a month ago, but we all need a break every now and then.

Lots of fun collabs that really made me get creative with materials and ex*****on. Also working on some new products and processes that will add a fun new dimension to my offerings. There are some changes in the near future, but all for the better.

Also, for the first time ever, I’ll be offering classes. If you’re in the Boston area, keep your eyes open.

It’s snowing today, but baseball is near. Stay warm out there.

Chuckin, chattin, and cheesin. Our leg of is complete. Today it moves on from HBBC HQ in MA to in VA.

Thank you to in TN for sending it my way, and for and for organizing it. It’s not easy to wrangle a teenage driver, school and work schedules, New England weather, and diminishing daylight hours, but we made it happen. Aches and pains be damned. I hope everyone down the line on the journey of this Jackie ball enjoys their time with it as much as we did.

Kinda annoyed that instagram suggested audio on top of this. This is high ranking audio all by itself.

Baseball season* is over. Baseball** season begins.

**Since we’re betting on everything now. What’s your guess on the total number of minutes that I’ll watch Ken Burns full Baseball doc between now and Opening Day? I’ll say this, I’ve watched more Ken Burns over the last 31 years than I’ve watched any other show, movie, or series. I’ll send the person with the closest guess something in April. Total series run time is 1218 minutes from the opening intro thru innings 1-9 and the extra inning (10). I will watch it more than once. Enter your guess in minutes in the comments. Clock starts today 11/1/25 and closes with first pitch on 3/25/26. Don’t DM your guess because I will forget and it will not count. Shipping will only be within the US. If you’re outside the US, you’re welcome to participate but please have a forwarding service in place.

There is no offseason. Baseball is always on.

*congrats to LA. Hate to see Toronto only get the post game popsicle at the snack shack instead of the ring. They deserved both. Nothing against LA, I just love an underdog. Great game, great series. Wait til next year.

The annual Clemente Foundation Ambassadors’ Dinner will take place on September 12. Details on the event and how to bid on the auction, featuring these hand made baseballs, can be found by following .

The baseballs honor a fellow Pittsburgh legend, and 2025 inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Dave Parker. Both baseballs are handmade by Huntington Base Ball Co. The pair includes a black and gold foil baseball featuring The Cobra in his protective hockey mask and pillbox cap, along with his induction date of July 27th. The second baseball is a ā€œone of oneā€, made from leather sourced from a Dave Parker model Rawlings glove, circa 1980.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Clemente Foundation and their support for pediatric health initiatives.

Last week in Chicago. Dad always wants to play catch.

Glove selection: late 1930s Dubow No. 350 Professional Model. Made in Chicago. I must be honest here. I love wearing it. It is so choice.

Turns out that the arc of the bean matches the arc of my soft toss. Coincidence?

Also, put a little mustard on it.
