Until I had my phone I wasn’t that much of a picture taker. I always felt kind of bad about the resources that it took to generate photographs and film. Hence I don’t have nearly enough photos from earlier in my life or from my son’s early days.
Sometimes technology surprises us with it gifts…Like when I’m scrolling through pictures; small things that I had the presence of mine to capture in the moment, bring back particular memories that otherwise would’ve been completely lost.
For example, the little hinge on the door, which is original to the house that I stayed in is marked or embedded with X & Os. How cute is that! Somebody 150 years ago thought to make door hinges that were solid enough and strong enough to last probably another 150 years that have these cute patterns in them. the table lamp on the beautiful rose cloth that is an antique in the hallway where I stayed, it’s a little thing, but it’s this beautiful touch that made me feel the authenticity and the intent of the host.
If you look closely at the big round blue couch, there’s a dog curled up on top. I guess they like to dogs 🙂 but then I don’t trust people who don’t like dogs.
The tea bag picture was in the bathroom of this really nice coffee shop in downtown. South Bend just made me smile. I’m learning to except these amusements in life and not be quite so serious.

South Bend has a chocolate company. It’s called the South Bend chocolate company!
It’s an establishment right in the middle of town and a local business so that’s very exciting. They have a lovely coffee shop and all kinds of ways that they help. Keep that community strong.
Of course, they have Notre Dame chocolate and coffee and all kinds of wonderful treats to Support and cheer on the fighting Irish!
I am impressed with the way this town has fought back from Covid. They’ve worked hard to keep a lot of their entertainment and shops going.
I think there is shining example of the work ethic and spirit of people all across middle America.

Café Delerium in Gresham with my dear friend. Sneaking away from chores for an afternoon cup of coffee and a giggle, but, of course let us down the street to the Shops 🤷‍♀️🤓🤣😂

Comfort food with friends at Heidis in Gresham. say do this pressure fried chicken that is “the best thing in the world”fried chicken. Now keep in mind-I’ll be going down to the south this fall so I’m pretty sure I’ll meet some stiff competition ! Lol but in the Northlands, this is the best fried chicken I’ve ever taste a Yankee make.
 You can count on Oregon for funky paint jobs on their cars. This was actually really adorable. It’s wonderful when people find ways to Xpress and turn every day objects into art.

Everywhere I look more people are taking small manageble steps to be more human. Community gardens bring life, hope, food security(or improve it).
Some of my favorite times happened in a community garden I belonged to. We are not meant to be do distant from our resources. Plus the basic life skills /competency of a garden is good for sslf esteem. When you understand and connect euth nature, its calming:)

Unique Boutique International L.L.C is a Shop in South Bend Ind. The owner is Traci. We laughed and prayed together. She helps people who are in need, runs a fabulous shop where i acquired my boho outfit and this gorgeous fabric.
She works with the local women’s entrepenuer group…a power house in purple💜💜💜. People like Traci make the world a way better place! Honored to meet her!

This was at the yellow cat café in South Bend.
The timeless diner they could be in any city. Good food that you could afford.
Zero pretense… which can be quite refreshing
Your coffee cup on my case ice tea glass was always full.
There was this feeling of being in a center of a community where people gathered for news and friendship and general camaraderie.
Sitting at the counter for about an hour, I heard a lot of community news. A couple of really corny, dad jokes, and two seasoned waitresses who deftly handled about 30 tables and booths. Well not missing a conversational, be a cup of coffee, or making sure that the trainees and the bus people were on top of things .
One of the great things about traveling, is we get to move out of our mindset about how things are or how people are. In different settings, these women would be fantastic managers, making a lot more money and having a lot more general social respect.
Being in the world as an observer, and a traveler is reminding me how much the average person can do when they’re called upon to do it.
