Is What You're Eating Aging You Faster?

Did you know that ultra-processed foods—like packaged snacks, sugary drinks, and frozen meals—aren’t just bad for your waistline, but may also impact your brain health, energy, and overall well-being as you age?
This eye-opening article from Chicago Caregiving explores how diets high in processed foods affect older adults in particular — increasing the risk of chronic illness, memory issues, and more.

Take a look at the link below for the full article and check out our evidence-based workshops where we cover this exact topic and how to make healthy eating choices!

🌡️ Let's Prepare Now for High Temperatures—Together! 🧊
As summer heats up, it’s more important than ever to prepare ourselves and look out for the people we care about—especially older adults and those with chronic health conditions who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat.

🔥 High temperatures don’t just affect our physical health—they can also take a serious toll on mental well-being, especially for those living alone or managing chronic conditions.
🧠 Studies show that extreme heat can increase stress, anxiety, lead to heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and even confusion in older adults.

✅ Here’s how friends, family, and loved ones can all help:

• Have regular check-ins with family, friends, older loved ones, and neighbors
• Make sure AC or fans are working and accessible
• Create a “cooling plan” that includes shaded or air-conditioned spaces. If need be, know your nearest cooling center. Check this site!-https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/fss/provdrs/serv/svcs/dfss_cooling_centers.html
• Stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activities during peak hours
• Encourage rest and remind each other it’s okay to slow down
