Welcome to our new Holistic Skincare series! Here we will be sharing information about the connection between holistic health and skincare. Today, we would like to focus on the gallbladder and how it can affect the skin. Follow along for insight on how to recognize and nurture your body from the inside out 🌿

How do we spot gallbladder issues on the skin?
One of the signs of gallbladder dysfunction is fatty deposits on the top inner eyelids. These are different from milia - they are usually even in shape and small to medium in size.

How can we handle this?
When we see this issue showing up on the skin, we generally recommend the client start a gentle liver/gallbladder cleanse as well as skincare treatments.

On the inside
-Drinking lemon water upon waking
-Eliminating processed foods
-Incorporating herbs that support the gallbladder and live function such as dandelion root and milk thistle
-Cutting down or eliminating sugar
-Getting adequate rest/sleep
-Movement

On the skin side
In addition to internal dietary changes, we find that hyfrecation, a procedure that cauterizes the affected areas, works well for eliminating these fatty deposits.

The gallbladder holds trauma
From a holistic perspective - the gallbladder holds anger and resentment. This means that when there are unresolved emotions of anger or resentment, the biological and chemical changes that the body experiences can cause the gallbladder to function at suboptimal levels. If the body experiences this for a prolonged period, energy gets ‘stuck’ and this can have a cascading effect in the body. When focusing on healing, it’s important to address the emotional root cause of the dysfunction as well as the physical.
