Toxins in food is an area I have spent a lot of time learning about recently. There is an advocate that has been getting food tested by 3rd party to ID which ones have heavy metal and so many are ones we used to eat.
Annies crackers was found to be high in cadmium. If you don't know about cadmium here is a snippet...
Cigarette smoke contains cadmium (1), which is a highly toxic metal that causes oxidative damage to various biomolecules in the body. Because of the heavy use of chemical fertilizers in growing to***co plants...
Our body can only handle so much toxicity and the amount in food, water and products is alarming. Kids are especilally senstitive to it and to see it in "kid products" is so alarming.
If a child has MTHFR genetics, for example (about half the population likely does), they also have imparied detox abilities.
On top of that, kids are born with moms toxins, so they start life too high already. This is a big reason so many kids are experiencing health struggles so young.
Please note she has tested other crackers and found similiar issues. I would recommend checking out her website to see testing.
I prefer to arm people with solutions, not just the problems.
So here is an easy recipe to make cheddar crackers. https://www.mjandhungryman.com/homemade-cheese-crackers/
BTW the only flour this advocate has found to be free of heavy metal is also in the pictures, and I was able to find it at Whole Foods. So I would use that.
Please be aware that if you need a gluten free flour (cassava is in most and not safe) please holler. I think I have a suggestion on that!
If you need an easy tool to detox your kids from all the high toxins they eat, ask me that too. We use an easy and safe product for that so we can live an 80/20 rule.
