“Held” was the theme of our fifth retreat, and wow do we feel that as we wrap up today. Our postpartum moms came together for a delicious, slow, nourishing day that most of us described as a time warp - slowing down and being held and holding others in our experiences of motherhood. ✨Major thanks to for leading our yoga class and for providing ear acupuncture to everyone and allowing our nervous systems to down-regulate as we enter a new season. What a testament to how deeply necessary community and compassion are, especially in this time of life. It was a gift to be held and to hold everyone today in care, community, and connection.

Introducing our guest facilitator for our October retreat: Kristen Simons! Kristen is a licensed mental health therapist, certified perinatal mental health profesionnal, yoga teacher, pre/postnatal corrective exercise specialist, and mom of 2. She specializes in high-functioning anxiety, women’s mental health, and perinatal care. Through her private practice in Evanston and online, she supports adults—especially women navigating the transitions of pregnancy, postpartum, and parenthood—through individual counseling and therapeutic yoga.

In addition to her private practice, Kristen teaches prenatal and postpartum yoga at Grateful Yoga ( ) in Evanston and leads a quarterly postpartum yoga & support group, creating spaces for connection, learning, and community. As both a mom and a therapist, Kristen brings warmth, compassion, and a grounded approach to her work, offering realistic and practical tools that help clients restore balance and ease in both body and mind. We can’t wait to have her lead our somatic practice in October!

Today was beyond words…the theme of the day was COAL (Compassion, Openness, Acceptance, and Love), and that is exactly what this fourth retreat was filled with. What an extraordinary day with our postpartum community, celebrating authenticity and joy through movement, art, and mindful presence. An extra special thank you to for a matrescence-focused yoga class and for providing restorative acupuncture to everyone. What a day, what a gift, what a life to get to host these retreats!

Meet our May retreat special guest: Charlotte Waldmeir!

Charlotte is a licensed therapist and trauma-informed yoga teacher with over 13 years of experience guiding individuals into deeper connection with their bodies, breath, and inner wisdom. Specializing in grief, loss, and life transitions, she weaves her background in psychotherapy and somatic practices to create nurturing, rhythmic spaces that invite grounding, presence, and self-trust. Charlotte has taught yoga and mindfulness in Chicago, as well as abroad in Santiago, Chile and Mexico City, where she built an inclusive yoga community for expats and locals. Now back in Chicago, she integrates mind-body practices into her work as a therapist and yoga teacher at , supporting others through life’s transitions with warmth, presence, and compassion. She is also a mother to a spirited toddler and is therefore alongside the ever-evolving journey of motherhood—which means a whole lot of patience, curiosity, honesty, and a good dose of caffeine.

Her offering at the May retreat centers on embodied self-awareness - supporting postpartum women as they gently return to the body through movement, breath, and music. Drawing on the natural rhythms of the nervous system and her training in trauma-informed yoga, Charlotte guides participants toward a felt sense of safety, clarity, and reconnection with their evolving identity as mothers. We cannot wait to have her join us in just a few weeks!

Food is nourishing in more ways than one postpartum. We appreciate how integral it is for body, mind, and spirit and work to make sure that our participants can sink into a mindful experience of eating community meals centered around connection and awareness of their own needs.
