Sitting here on this last day of 2024(!) reflecting on my first full year as a doula.

Every birth was full of beautiful, unique, and challenging moments and I continue to be in awe of the strength, the softness, and the grit I got to witness.

Thank you to every client who trusted me to be a part of your birth story! I am forever grateful to be invited into such vulnerable and sacred spaces.

Looking forward to what 2025 brings! Maybe I’ll get better at posting on social media too 😉

I can't believe how fast we're cruising through 2024! I am eager to add on a few more clients for this year and am ready for those 2025 due dates as well!

If you are coming closer to your due date and haven't looked into having a doula support you through your birth, what are you waiting for?! Whether you're due in 6 days, 6 weeks, or 6 months it's never too early or too late to hire a doula 😊

Message me or reach out via my website www.amandanelsondoula.com to schedule a free consult to learn how I can best support you in your upcoming birth.

Excited to add these pocket guides to my collection of resources!

I just finished auditing an Childbirth Education class last month and think evidence based information is one of the most powerful tools you can have going into your birth!

By using this information alongside your own health history, circumstances, values, and preferences you can make the right decisions for you and your family.

It’s the end of National Infertility Awareness week and I wanted to post because my story with infertility is such a big catalyst in my decision to become a doula.

I am forever grateful for the science that helped us grow our family (and let’s be real, it’s pretty cool that these embryos were created at the same time but born three years apart!), but I’ve learned over time that pregnancy and birth don’t heal infertility. It’s something that is always a part of you and my desire is that everyone can find a support system that can carry then through each and every step of their journey- whether with or without a baby in the end.

To those of you who are in the thick of it, are supporting someone who is, or have been there, I send all my love and strength your way. You are not alone ❤️

✨ Happy World Doula Week ✨

It's been a busy month of 'firsts' for me! I had the privledge to shadow another doula at the birth of one her clients, supported a good friend of mine as she welcomed her third baby boy, signed my first official client, and have been able to connect with other doulas and women small business owners who are all out there doing incredible work. 💕

I am honored to have been invited into these magical and vulnerable spaces and am so grateful to those who have taken the time to share their wisdom and experience with me. Sending love to all the doulas and birth workers out there this week! Your presence is powerful and your work is important!

Two years ago today I was being induced at 39 weeks after finding out that morning that I had potential IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction).

I remember this moment in the hospital feeling frustrated that I had to be there and sad that this wasn’t my plan on how my labor and birth would go.

But looking back I can say I have no regrets because I had
✨ a doula who encouraged me to ask the right questions (risk/benefit, what are the alternatives, what are my induction options)
✨a provider who I trusted and knew that this wasn’t my plan and helped me with a gentle induction with a cooks balloon and no IV to start
✨that I knew how to advocate for myself with things like asking for wireless monitors and
a birth ball to labor on.

Birth rarely ever goes exactly as planned, but it’s still possible to be empowered and educated with the decisions that are in our control!

Excited to celebrate that little baby’s 2nd birthday tomorrow! 🥰🥺

It's my birthday! 🥰 Ever since giving birth myself, I realize how special this day is not just for me, but for my mom. So while I celebrate and dream about the year ahead, today I also want to express my gratitude for my mom's courage and strength on her BIRTHday!
