For both disabled people and caregivers, mental health care is a critical part of disability support.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re recognizing that support isn’t one-size-fits-all. When care is individualized and accessible, it strengthens well-being, stability, and quality of life for entire families.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we’re celebrating the incredible Easterseals Academy and Head Start teachers who show up each day with patience, compassion, creativity, and unwavering belief in every child they serve. 💛

Our teachers do so much more than teach academic skills—they help students build confidence, communication, independence, self-expression, and meaningful connections. They create safe, supportive classrooms where students of all abilities are seen, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Thank you for the countless ways you advocate, encourage, adapt, celebrate milestones, and help every student reach their fullest potential. The impact you make extends far beyond the classroom walls.

To our teachers: thank you for leading with heart and changing lives every single day. 🍎✨

Great news—our Spring Appeal matching gift deadline has been extended to March 15th!

There’s still time to double your impact and help bring expressive arts programming to Easterseals Academy students. Through music, visual art, movement, and storytelling, students are building confidence, communication skills, and new ways to express themselves.

Every gift made by the new deadline will be matched—helping us expand access to this meaningful, evidence-based program for even more students.

Our Early Learning Services (ELS) team was proud to represent Easterseals Serving Chicagoland & Greater Rockford in Washington, D.C. for Easterseals annual Advocacy Week.

Alongside affiliates from across the country, Amy Blythe, Assistant Vice President of Early Learning Services, and Sam Cazares, Senior Director of ELS Program Operations, met with federal leaders — including Congresswoman Delia Ramirez and staff from Senator Tammy Duckworth’s office — to advocate for protecting the funding that makes early learning and disability services possible for the families we serve.

These conversations are critical to ensuring children and families continue to have access to the support, education, and resources they rely on every day.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to elevate the voices of our communities and stand alongside partners nationwide in advancing policies that strengthen access and opportunity for people of all abilities.

We were honored to welcome representatives from the Chicago Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities for a visit yesterday.

During their time with us, they toured a few of our Chicago-based programs—including HB Threads, the Easterseals Academy, and the Illinois Autism Partnership—gaining a deeper understanding of how we support individuals with disabilities through education, training, employment, and community-based services.

They also spent time with our HB Threads associates—making buttons and heat-pressing tumblers together—highlighting the hands-on, inclusive work experiences that help build skills and create opportunity.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, share our mission, and continue building relationships that advance accessibility, inclusion, and support for the communities we serve.

Thank you Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) for spending time with our teams!

Yesterday, our Teen Family Support team proudly wore denim in recognition of Denim Day — a global movement that raises awareness about sexual violence and challenges harmful myths surrounding consent and victim blaming.

Denim Day began after a court ruling suggested a survivor’s clothing implied consent, sparking a worldwide movement of advocacy, education, and support. Wearing denim is a simple but powerful way to stand with survivors and help create conversations rooted in respect, safety, and empowerment.

At Teen Family Support, we are committed to supporting young parents and families with compassion, education, and judgment-free care. Today, we wear denim to show solidarity, raise awareness, and reaffirm our commitment to creating safe, supportive spaces for all.

Earlier this month, team members from The Autism Program at Easterseals decorated the Hyundai on Perryville showroom in recognition of Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month.

Team members Shannon and Lori also connected with families and assisted parents in completing paperwork to begin screening their child for Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This annual tradition is always a meaningful way to raise awareness, support families, and strengthen community connections.

Thank you to Hyundai on Perryville, Devin Bloomingdale, and the entire team for being a valued Mission Partner and for their continued support of our work.
