For the first time, I had professional photos taken of my private practice—a moment that felt both surreal and powerful. As I sat with them, taking in their beauty, I allowed myself to pause. These images were more than just photographs; they captured something deeper—the strength, the purpose, the journey that had brought me here. A fullness swelled within me, a quiet recognition of how far I had come.
After the birth of my son and the unraveling of my marriage, Empower Women Counseling was born. It wasn’t just a therapy practice; it was a fire ignited deep within my soul. Motherhood awakened something profound, yet alongside that love burned a deep rage—rage at the patriarchal expectations that both subjugate and suffocate women; leaving them without support or community, while shaming and enslaving them. I knew that if I wanted to change the world around me, I first had to change something within myself—down to the very core of my being.
So, I committed to healing my inner child. To facing the darkest, most wounded and disassociated parts of my deeply traumatic childhood. And as I did, the fog began to lift. Clarity and passion took its place. I knew I wasn’t meant to do this work alone. With the unwavering support of my partner, alongside the steady anchor of my own inner knowing, I stepped through fear and hired my first therapist—someone who shared my vision, who believed in both healing and being healed. One year later, I’ve welcomed a second.
Empower Women Counseling is a space built by and for women—a feminist-rooted therapy practice specializing in complex PTSD and developmental trauma. We use the most advanced trauma therapies—attachment focused EMDR, somatic work, and IFS/parts—to help women reclaim themselves, and realize they were never broken to begin with.
In a country on fire, with a president who is waging a war on women and the most vulnerable- I couldn’t be more proud to own a business designed for women - that stands for healing, for empowerment, for breaking the cycles that were never meant to define us. This practice is my revolution. And we are just getting started.
