Our Story

My first experience with raw feeding came when my Boxer Mozart was diagnosed with cancer....my then husband and I rushed him to the vet after he collapsed....we found out he was bleeding internally because he had a tumor on his spleen which had ruptured...needless to say the vets had to perform emergency surgery to save his life, removing the tumor(hemangiosarcoma) and ruptured spleen.....the surgeon came to speak to us afterwards and said Mozart's prognosis was poor...she gave him about 2 months to live! How could this be?? My 5 year old seemingly healthy boy was going to die?? This was unacceptable! The vet offered us chemotherapy at about $9000 dollars and that was after already spending $3000+ on the surgery! We couldn't swing that so off we went home, devastated that we would soon lose our beloved Mozart...I couldn't fathom it...I WOULDN'T!! Dazed, I sat down at the computer and started searching for alternative treatments...something...anything that could save my boy. The information came fast and furious and I absorbed it easily and became more and more optimistic at the possibility that there were things we could do ...in fact many things that could help Mozart...why had the vet not informed us of any of these promising treatments?...well that's a story for another day...so back to my research...I found a holistic vet's website and began to read his primer and information and testimonials and....a light bulb went off in my head....it said that raw whole food nutrition is the key to preventing and curing disease along with the elimination of toxins in the environment....homeopathy and herbs can be used as well with much success....by this time it was after midnight but I picked up the phone to leave a message about scheduling a consultation with this vet...well he answered the phone and spoke with me for 2 hours!!! He reassured me that he could help...and more importantly I could help my dog. I spent the next few months learning all I could about holistic pet care including raw nutrition , homeopathy , herbs... and essential oils to boot and using these things to treat my dog. Not only did Mozart surpass his 2 month prediction he lived 5 1/2 more years!! If that isn't a testament to raw diet and clean living I don't know what is! Since that experience, I started my own journey to good health using the same principles I learned from treating my dog....so I saved his life and he in turn saved mine! I will be forever grateful to Mozart for opening up my eyes...he will remain in my heart and be forever remembered as pure love! I have since fed all my pets a raw, organic diet(about 17 yrs now) and they have all been extremely healthy...little to no vet visits and happy dogs make me happy! I've spent the last 5 years or so helping personal friends, family and facebook friends around the world transition their pets to raw food...its my passion so why not make it a career?? I'd like to do the same for you and your pets! ~ Effie
