The most powerful therapy happens when skills are practiced at home! We partner with families to extend learning beyond our sessions. 3 simple activities you can incorporate into your daily routine to support your child's speech goals:
1. Narrate Your Day (Model Language)
Talk through what you're doing as you do it—“I’m washing the dishes,” or “Now I’m pouring the juice.” This builds vocabulary and models sentence structure in real-time.
2. Mealtime Conversations
Ask open-ended questions during meals like, “What was your favorite part of the day?” or “Tell me more about that.” This encourages expressive language and turn-taking in conversation.
3. Label and Describe Objects Around You
During play, errands, or walks, label what you see and describe it: “Look at the big red truck!” or “That banana is yellow and soft.” This strengthens naming, categorization, and descriptive language.
