“You could describe Sergio as a small-town guy with a thirst for adventure! He loves to travel to new places and capture beautiful landscapes along the way. After spending most of his life on the countryside of Oklahoma, he’s completed his medical degree at Sidney Kimmel Medical College in Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love. His personal experience as a first-generation college graduate motivates him to inspire and assist disadvantaged students to pursue the surgical fields. He hopes to connect with the Hispanic community in Chicago to address disparities of surgical care through advocacy and research.”

“Born in South Korea, I grew up in Happy Valley, OR and lived in Seattle, WA for the last 10 years throughout college and medical school. Now I will spend my next years in Chicago, Illinois for my general surgery residency! I am excited to learn and grow into a kind and competent surgeon at UIC MGH. I am most interested in pediatric surgery. But we will see where my training takes me! Outside of medicine, I am a pianist, tennis player and rock climber. I really enjoy being out on the water, hiking, eating good food, and trying new things!”
