BLOC Ministries

BLOC Ministries BLOC Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit rooted in community and relationship. We serve in Cincinnati, Louisville, and Knoxville.

We believe in hope, live where we serve, build one-to-one connections, and point everything back to Christ in us. At the heart of BLOC Ministries is encouraging broken people. We work one-to-one with urban students, adults and families to break negative cycles in their lives – poverty, addiction, crime, violence, homelessness, sex trafficking, abuse, joblessness, insufficient life skills and/or hopelessness. BLOC stands for 'Believing (and) Living One Christ" - we are hope-builders and change-bringers through Christ.

Each week, we gather as a ministry with one purpose—to seek the Lord together. We pray over BLOC, over the people we serve, and over the work God has entrusted to us. We take communion in remembrance of Jesus, grounding ourselves in His sacrifice, grace, and faithfulness.

In these moments, we pause to listen. We ask God for wisdom, discernment, and revelation—not just for big decisions, but for how to move faithfully each and every day. This ministry is not led by our own plans or strength, but by the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

We believe God is active, present, and still speaking. And as we listen and obey, we trust Him to direct our steps and use this ministry for His glory.

“In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:6)

Happy Valentine’s Day from BLOC Ministries ❤️

Today is a reminder that no matter your season—joyful, lonely, hopeful, or hurting—God’s love remains constant. His love is not dependent on circumstances, relationships, or where you’ve been. It is steady, faithful, and unchanging.

“Nothing can separate us from the love of God.” (Romans 8:38–39)
You are seen. You are known. You are deeply loved—today and always.

Horses on the Hill is an innovative equine-assisted learning program located in Price Hill that creates a safe, hands-on environment for healing and growth. Through the power of horses, urban farming, and horticulture, individuals impacted by trauma, addiction, abuse, and instability are given space to experience restoration.

HOTH serves at-risk youth, women in recovery, and survivors of abuse—offering more than therapy, but a place to build trust and emotional regulation. Participants engage in equine-assisted learning and nature-based activities that encourage responsibility, self-awareness, and hope.

For many, Horses on the Hill is more than a farm—it’s a sanctuary. A place where relationships are formed, dignity is restored, and God’s creation becomes a pathway to peace, strength, and a renewed future.

Who is BLOC?
BLOC stands for Believing and Living One Christ, and that mission guides everything we do.

We believe in the power of hope. We live where we serve. We show up one to one. And we carry Christ in us wherever we go. These aren’t just words—they are the heartbeat of our ministry.

BLOC goes where the need is. We stay rooted in community, walking alongside our neighbors through every season—celebrating the joys, carrying the burdens, and offering support when life is hard. We don’t turn away when challenges come. Instead, we stay, we love, and we serve faithfully, knowing that lasting change happens through relationships, presence, and care.

This is who we are. This is BLOC. A ministry built on hope, grounded in faith, and committed to showing Christ’s love in action every single day.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued generosity of the Charles H. Dater Foundation. Their support this year is making a meaningful impact through funding our Immigrant Welcome Center and Horses on the Hill programs — two spaces where hope is nurtured and lives are transformed every day.

This investment allows us to walk alongside individuals and families as they find community, healing, and opportunity. We do not take this partnership lightly, and we are deeply thankful for those who believe in the mission of BLOC and the work happening right here in our neighborhoods.

We are truly blessed and excited to see the continued fruit of this support!!

Our Story

The heart of BLOC Ministries centers on building relationships with our neighbors and sharing hope in brokenness. We work one-to-one with children & students, women, men, and families to break negative cycles in their lives – poverty, addiction, crime, violence, homelessness, s*x trafficking, abuse, school failure, joblessness, insufficient life skills and hopelessness. BLOC stands for 'Believing (and) Living One Christ" - we are hope-builders and change-bringers through Christ.

We take great pride in sharing that “We Are A Movement, Not An Institution” and we are recognized as a renowned organization in that all of our programs’ staff and leaders live where we serve. That’s right! We live, work and play in the very same neighborhoods where we serve our neighbors through programs and services that impact community and change lives. BLOC Ministries owns over 35 properties, many of which are free housing for our staff who lead these important street, faith and community programs.

We are not a community center. We are a “center of community”. We have 5 distinct and unique social enterprise urban businesses known as BLOC Industries where the very men, women and young adults we serve learn important job skills and get onsite training and employment through our Woodshop, Screen Print T-Shirt Shop, 2 BLOC Coffee Company shops (Price Hill & City Hall), Cincinnati Type & Print Museum/Redeemed Letterpress and the infamous Teaching Kitchen and Catering business. These industries both train our neighbors for their next job or career opportunity while making high-quality local products that are sold for use--serving as a source of stable sustainability for our own BLOC Ministries’ programs and services. We believe in being innovative and creative in how we build our funds and share our success with our donors!

Our mentoring one-to-one approach builds life-long relationship with individuals and offers no one-step, 8-week program where staff leave every day at 5 p.m. We are in the trenches for the long haul 24/7. This is our life. These are our neighbors. We do laundry, grocery shopping and babysitting for each other. We live, laugh, pray and cry in shared responsibility. We treat those we serve no less than we treat our own families. We strive to be Christ’s hope in brokenness. We are BLOC.
