February is Recreational Therapy Month, and we are so proud of the opportunities we’ve been able to offer through our Therapeutic Recreation programming this year!

From our weekly clubs- where participants choose activities like games, sports, arts & crafts, and making treats. To multi-week programs like yoga, woodworking, 3D printing, podcasting, cooking, ballet, gym outings, photography, and laser cutting, there has truly been something for everyone.

We’ve also loved offering single-class experiences like pottery painting, floral arranging, goat therapy, and cookie decorating.

None of this would be possible without our amazing Therapeutic Recreation Manager, Rachel Hoferer. Her hard work, creativity, and passion for the community we serve make these programs thrive. Thank you, Rachel, for the dedication and heart you bring to everything you do!

Here’s to the power of recreation in building skills, confidence, connection, and joy. 💙

🦕Cincinnati Museum Center🦕
This year, we’re excited to introduce a new structure to our field trips- each month will feature one designated community outing!

Our February field trip took us to the Cincinnati Museum Center. Throughout the month, our groups explored exhibits on history, science, and culture, as well as hands-on learning experiences. From discovering stories of the past to engaging with interactive displays, there was something that sparked curiosity and excitement for everyone.

Experiences like these give us the opportunity to learn together, try new things, and strengthen connections- all while having a great time out in our community.

We’re already looking forward to next month’s adventure!

🔥🐎Happy Lunar New Year🐎🔥
This holiday is very important across many Asian cultures. Lunar New Year marks the beginning of the lunar calendar and is celebrated with family gatherings, feasts, fireworks, and cultural traditions.

2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse, representing speed, strength, and independence. The Fire Horse symbolizes passion, breakthrough, ambition, and adventure, and is associated with forward momentum.

We would like to thank the Meier family for helping us put together today’s lesson and activities. Today’s lesson included an informational presentation on Lunar New Year, with a focus on a Chinese New Year, making dragon masks, and Jill distributing red envelopes (hóngbāo). In Chinese culture, the color red symbolizes happiness, prosperity, and good fortune. Giving red envelopes is a way to pass along wishes of luck, health, and success to others.

A special thank you to Jill for sharing her culture and traditions with us today. ❤️

Hey Metzcor family & friends!! 💙🎸

We’d love for you to come out and support an awesome event Today!!!— Autism Rocks 17 at Fretboard Brewing in Blue Ash (5800 Creek Rd.) starting at 12 Noon!

This is such a fun day with live music all afternoon:12pm – DejaVu1pm – Hollywood2pm – Dangerous Jim & the Slims3pm – 13304pm – Prizoner

Even better… this event truly makes a difference. Last year Autism Rocks raised $10,000 for CorMission, which helped purchase the oven for CorCafe — a HUGE part of why the restaurant was able to open and create job opportunities for the individuals we serve. 🙌

CorMission now runs CorCafe and CorTee’s right on our campus with the mission of giving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities more meaningful work/job opportunities.

So if you’re looking for something fun to do, great music, great cause, and a chance to support inclusion in our community, come hang out with us!

Let’s show up big and support something that is changing lives. 💛

This year has been full of heartbreak for the caregivers and families at Metzcor. We truly hope this is the last obituary we have to share for a long time.

We are saddened to share that Barb Craig, a beloved member of the Metzcor family, has passed away. Barb was active in our program from 2018 to 2021, and she will always hold a special place in our hearts. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

She was silly, sassy, and absolutely hilarious. Barb had a personality that filled the room and a way of making people laugh when they needed it most. She brought joy, energy, and a little bit of sass to her time here — and we’re grateful for every moment.

Barb’s family shared in her obituary that monetary donations may be made to Metzcor in her name. We are deeply touched by their kindness and incredibly grateful that they chose to think of our community during such a difficult time.

Our thoughts are with Barb’s family and loved ones. She will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by all of us at Metzcor. 🤍🤍
