After bariatric surgery, your new stomach doesn’t measure food the same way a food scale does.
That’s why volume matters just as much as weight.
For example, 3 ounces of chicken, 3 ounces of popcorn, and 3 ounces of soup can all feel very different after gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, SADI, or another weight loss procedure. Your stomach responds to how much space food takes up — not just how much it weighs.
A few post-op tips from Devon Price, RD/LD, JourneyLite Registered Dietitian:
✅ Use measuring cups or small bowls
✅ Take small bites and chew well
✅ Eat slowly
✅ Pause between bites
✅ Stop at the first sign of fullness — not when you feel stuffed
That “one more bite” can be the difference between feeling satisfied and feeling miserable.
