Our last Fish Fry of the season has ended with an amazing British Fish and Chips meal at Lobsta Bakes of Maine. Although this has become a very popular place to visit during Fridays of the Lenten season, they have added the Fish and Chips to their menu. The Shack now offers sit down dinners every Friday and Saturday 5-8. It’s not too late to stop by and try this amazing Fish beyond Lent.
The generous portion of fish is boxed in a paper lined container on top of the English chips (fries) with a slice of lemon and the best tartar sauce I’ve ever had!. This keeps the fish batter fresh and crispy set on top of the chips. The fish was cooked perfectly and the crunch and flavor of the batter AMAZING! We had the English Minty Mushy Peas and Coleslaw as our sides. We also ordered the Lobster Roll which was equally delicious. They offered small Blueberry or Apple crumb pies for dessert. A perfect, delicious dessert to share after an amazing meal! Just a heads up, the majority of people last night purchased the meal to go as seating is very limited. Go with patience as everything is being made when ordered and they were very busy. I guarantee, it’s worth the wait!

Ventured out to the very west side of Cincinnati this week to American Legion Miller-Stockum Post 485. Nice, friendly crowd. Great desserts!

Another successful Friday night Fish Fry. We headed to the West Side and found R&R Quality Meats serving up a great Fish Fry! They are always in the Top Ten Fish Fry’s list in the Cincinnati area and we can confirm they should be! We ordered the deep fried beer battered cod and their baked potato crusted Cod sandwiches and both were very good. All of the sides were plentiful servings and delicious! The desserts offered were a choice of apple, cherry or chocolate cobbler! We chose the chocolate and cherry cobblers….. amazing! Beyond our expectations!

Another great visit to St. Joseph Parish Camp Springs, Ky. !

This year we opted for the sampler platter! The crab cake was delicious, the fried cod was crispy, and the mac and cheese was creamy. Always a line (a good sign in our opinion), but never too long of a wait. They keep things organized and flowing. Huge shout out to all the kids running food to the tables! The hustle did not go unnoticed!We thought we missed out on dessert, but were kindly directed to another room with a full dessert table.

Always a great dinner, and if you're able to make it out, be sure to enjoy the scenic drive through the hills. We caught some great views out there. Can't believe we only have a couple weeks left! See you out there next week!

Week 3 of the 2026 Fish Fry season landed us at Newport Elks #273 in Cold Springs, KY. This was a very busy, well run Fish Fry! The dinner came with 3 pieces of fish and 1 choice of the sides offered for $14. We picked the mac and cheese, cole slaw and hush puppies. Cash only. Beer available at the bar. Final thoughts from the group, lively atmosphere, average fish, good sides.

St. Margaret of York Catholic Church was our stop for week 2 of fish fry season! They are perfecting this fish fry year after year. Wait line was very well managed and moved quickly. The fish is always perfectly battered and fried right outside the cafeteria area.This is a solid choice if looking for great Lenten Friday Fish Fry!

Opening night of the 2026 Fish Fry season brought us to the Syrian Shrine Cincinnati Fish Fry. We were served a large portion of fried fish, with a choice of 2 sides-french fries, green beans, mac and cheese or coleslaw. Rye and white bread were also offered. A great group of volunteers were behind the scenes frying the fish. Volunteers in the front were selling Split The Pot tickets, pull tabs and walking around with a wide selection of desserts to chose from.
We were very lucky to get to meet James who is the Patient Ambassador for Shriners Children’s Hospital in Ohio. Also met Paul who was wearing one of the fish hats!
The Shriners do great work in the community and it always feels good to support them.

The 2026 Fish Fry season is here! February 20th through March 27th. Join us this Friday and every Friday through Lent as we search for the very Best Fish Fry’s in the tri state. Our mission is to find the best hand battered, fried on site fish. Sides are always a bonus.

Wow! Ending the season with a huge win. Weiss Baking Company in Goshen was a change of pace in terms of Fish Fry Friday! A different setting, different style, but still some amazing food for the last Friday of Lent. The cod was impossibly crispy, the bang-bang shrimp were perfectly sweet and spicy, and the mac and cheese??? Indescribable. Lots of variety here, fun drink menu, plenty of fresh desserts, and parmesean crusted red potatoes that I would label "EXTREMELY crusted." So much food we brought an entire meal home. Absolutely 100% cannot wait to get back here to explore the brunch menu with friends.

Venturing out to the outskirts of Dayton to try out Ascension's fish fry! This was a one night only fish fry and was excellent! They loaded up the plate with fish and even threw in a baked fish as well! Not sure if the tartar sauce was homemade or not, but it was delicious! The sides were limited to fries and coleslaw. Otherwise overall worth a visit (next year at least). Grab a beer in line, peruse the raffle table, or grab a split the pot ticket when you visit!

We really lucked out on our week 3 pick! We came upon a Fish Fry in Mt. Carmel. Mt. Carmel Social Club doesn’t need our accolades. They have a very well run fish fry. The food was made to perfection! The Fried Cod was one if our favorites we've had. Perfectly crispy! The mac and cheese was delicious. And the hush puppies!!! Everyone in line was talking about them and they lived up to the hype! DELICIOUS! There was a wonderful selection of homemade desserts. Very fun and nice people in attendance, we had a nice time taking to the other people at our table. There was an interesting raffle of a large cooler filled with bottles of bourbon! All the volunteers were very nice and helpful.
My. Carmel Social Club is definitely a Fish Fry you will want to try!
