2025 reminded us what is possible when Black mamas, hospitals, and providers move together with purpose.

This year, Mama Certified helped strengthen partnerships, elevate community voice, and push hospitals toward greater accountability and care standards that reflect the needs of Black mothers.

We are grateful for the wins. We honor the work. And we remain clear, there is still so much more to do.

For too long, Black women’s experiences have been ignored, minimized, or erased.
Mama Certified is doing something powerful. It is centering Black women’s voices. It is humanizing our stories. It is saying our lives and births matter.

That is how change begins.
When you feel seen, you feel safer.
When your experience is centered, trust can grow.

And for Black moms in Cincinnati, that matters deeply.

Black mothers deserve respectful and supported births. Yesterday, that became more possible in Cincinnati.

TriHealth has officially launched its doula-friendly hospital guidelines, creating a clear framework for doulas and TriHealth staff to work together to help moms have the safest births and best experience possible.

Over the past year, we brought together Black mothers with lived experiences and TriHealth leadership through our Queens Village Hospital Advisory Boards to identify barriers and co-design solutions to equitable maternal care. Access to doulas rose up as a top priority.

The result: TriHealth developed guidelines that ensure mothers have consistent access to the support doulas provide, including advocacy, emotional comfort and physical support during pregnancy, labor and postpartum.

This is what happens when hospitals listen to Black mothers and follow their lead.

Congratulations to the advisory board members and TriHealth leaders who made this vision a reality. ✨

We had a time at the Cradling Cincinnati Summit! The event showcased bold ideas, proven strategies, and community-led solutions tackling the systemic inequities impacting Black birthing people and their families.
