From Tara:

Ahhhh so many emotions 🥰🧡🥳😭
After 91 days of inpatient this time around, Tanner was discharged to the RMH today.
We are gonna miss our BMT family but happy to be one step closer to home. Please continue to pray that Tanner is completely healed. He still has a long way to go but he is one tough little boy! These pics show just how much he was loved and we will forever be grateful for this crew.

We just wanted to share a sweet video of our Tanner Man having a late night karaoke session 🥰 🎤 🎶
Tanner had a lymph node biopsy yesterday. He did really well. He has a lymph node that has increased in swelling and causes him some pain. So to be safe they did a biopsy and removed what they could. We are still waiting on the pathology report from that, but all in all he is doing okay right now. We are hoping his second bone marrow transplant will be happening on the next few weeks if all goes to plan.
Thank you for all the prayers and support! Tanner and his family will get through this! He’s one tough kid!

What a nightmare. Thursday morning Tanner woke up with a fever and just like all the other times he's had one. They immediately culture to make sure there's no infection. Things took a turn very quick. He went into septic shock. They took us straight to ICU where they immediately put him on the vent mainly because his blood pressure was so low. He was breathing on his own most of the time. And they got him stable pretty quickly. I still can't believe that happened. It was horrible.
Today he was able to come off and is tube free. Other than a sore throat and little belly ache( I'm sure he's hungry) he's doing well.
Even got a few smiles out of him. Thank you for all the prayers. I keep asking God for miracles and I'm praying he's not done yet.

Today was a very rough day. Tanner was moved to the ICU this afternoon after going into septic shock due to a really bad infection. He was sedated and placed on a vent to give his body time to rest and heal. As of this evening, he was showing some improvement and is stable.

Please pray that Tanner continues to improve and his blood pressure remains stable. Also please pray that Tara & Joe are able to get some rest tonight after an exhausting and scary day.

We will update when we know more in the coming days. Thank you for keeping our Tanner Man in your prayers!

Here is an opportunity to help out Tanner and his family if you feel so called and able 💙

🫶🏻 AL (Ashley Lloyd Wise) came up with a way people can help keep the Gross’s fed over the next few months. With Tanner being admitted to the hospital again and for several months this time, this will make the most sense to give them many healthy options to choose from.

There are two ways you can donate. Either a Visa gift card or a “Care Card”. Please keep in mind if you donate to the CARE CARD they will be able to use it for basically anything they need from food to groceries. For some reason the Visa Card does not have the option to be used for door dash and groceries. So it may be more beneficial to only donate to the CARE CARD option.
⭐️ 100% OF DONATIONS GO DIRECTLY TO TANNER AND HIS FAMILY! ⭐️

I will post the fundraiser here and I believe you just click on the link and sign up from there. For any questions please ask them in the comments section of this post and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

As always, thank you all for loving our boy

Update from Tara and Joe:

“Not the update I want to be making, but here it is.

Tanner needs a second bone marrow transplant.

We are heartbroken, but we have a plan in place and we are ready to move forward. We are currently inpatient and will be for the next few months.

***So what happened with the first BMT?

The monosomy 7 came back. (Monosomy 7 is a hematologic condition where bone marrow cells are missing one copy of chromosome 7, often causing bone marrow failure, MDS, or AML)

So the plan is to switch the chemo to something a little stronger, along with some other stuff that the doctors think might be better this time.

We never thought we would be in this situation for a second time, especially this soon after his first. We should have been getting ready to go home in a couple weeks but instead we are starting over.
Please pray for our boy that God will lead his team to make the right decisions and cure his disease. Tanner is strong but he is also a 10 year old boy who wants to go home. I pray for strength and a strong mind to get him through.
Thank you all for the continued prayers, phone calls, text and everything in between.”
