My girl has made her takeoff 💔

Children’s helicopter, Care Force One is 30 minutes out !!!

Unfortunately we were not transported last night due to the weather, even ground transport was counties away.

We still cannot locate any access point. Flying without an IV is risky, but worth it to not keep poking her and making her worse.

Her fever is not at 104°, kidney & liver damage has worsen. If we are not transported soon, more IO’s and cardiac arrest can occur.
And I refuse to let Owensboro be the hospital that does that, especially with no pediatric background.

She needs all the prayers she can get right now.

Laramie is back in the emergency room.
We are suspecting sepsis is back but have no test results or vein access.

She’s been cath’d and we are looking at a central line in her femoral.
We are being life flighted tonight as well.

Petals of Hope is honored to help YoungLife, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping adolescents know Jesus !

Margo & Jack Godwin, (as pictured below) have been there for Laramie & I. Including housing, feeding, and helping us financially.
They have also dedicated loads of time, prayers, studies, finances, and support to YoungLife of Troy OH.

June 1st marks the deadline for high school students to turn in their money for their summer camp, as many know, these costs can add up & stop many teens from joining but money should never be a reason to not have fellowship & learn about Jesus!

We are asking your help;
Donate, share, repost, and do whatever we can as a community to help these teens & young adults to experience this amazing opportunity & program.

🤍Ways to Donate directly to Troy OH YoungLife:

•Venmo:

•Check/Money Orders should be made out to Abigail Bruce

•Cash donations will also be collected by Abigail Bruce

Petals of Hope greatly appreciates any & all help.
Jesus loves you & so do we !!

Today is National Zipper Day.

Not for your jacket.
Or a backpack.
Or a sleeping bag.

But for Laramie.
My beautiful, 7 month old daughter who, despite all the odds & percentages put against her, LIVED.

And for all of our babies, Heaven & Earth-side.
Their zipper.
Their story.
Their battle.

Our children have more strength than everyone I know combined.
Even I’ve wanted & had thoughts of throwing in the towel because it was simply unbearable to watch my daughter face this battle with no way to help.

Petals of Hope honors EVERY zipper.
Our love & our hearts goes out to our Cardiac families today, as good & bad memories may flood your minds. You are not alone.🫀🎗️💙

It’s a strange, aching kind of distance—

to look at your child and feel like you don’t quite know them anymore
not because they’ve changed in ways you can name
but because so much of their life is now wrapped up in hospital rooms, medical terms, and silent battles you can’t fully see.

As they face multiple heart surgeries, pieces of their world become guarded, shaped by fear, resilience, and pain that doesn’t always translate into words.
You find yourself studying their expressions, searching for clues, wondering what they carry inside that they don’t share, and questioning whether you’re truly reaching them.

The love is still fierce and unwavering, but it’s threaded with uncertainty—like standing close beside them, yet separated by something invisible, hoping that when this is over, you’ll find your way back to each other in a way that feels whole again.

You’re not alone.
It’s a valid feeling.
I just wish someone told me sooner.

It’s okay to envy other mothers.

To see moms at church, work, in public.
Wiping snotty noses, picking up crayons, breastfeeding, and calming tantrums.

To feel nothing but resentment & hatred, not towards the mother or child themselves, but in general.

While your baby lays in a hospital bed, sick, dying.
Being out in public and no one knows you’re a mother because you have no baby to show for it.

It’s okay to not want to be around your friends who have kids.
To not have that rubbed in your face every day..
“My baby is alive, at home, & healthy”

While they read bedtime stories, you’re saying prayers... “If you’re going to let her die, at least make it painless. Please God.”

It’s taunting.
Take your time.
And keep your distance.
It’s all valid.

Sincerely, one incredibly envious heart mom to the next. ♥️

My sweet girl is settled in for the night.
Finally stable & responding to the antibiotics given for the infection.

The infection itself has caused some kidney & liver damage. And unfortunately, the antibiotics needed are known for causing kidney failure.
So we are watching her very closely to avoid anymore complications.
