My Story
A Plank is a powerful pose done in Pilates and Yoga... to me it is so much more. Plank is a symbol that represents how perseverance & breath control will cultivate strength & change in your body & ultimately your life. My motto is "Persevere. Breathe. Change." Just a bit about me:
When I was 15, I attended a dance conditioning class. I loved working out and I had always wanted to be a dancer/mover. Of course, at this point, I wasnβt any good at moving, very awkward, inflexible, and uncoordinated. This is a moment that I will never forget, a member of the dance studio approached me and said this, βIf you canβt touch your toes now, you will never touch your toes. And if you arenβt a dancer now you will never be a dancer.β I was 15, she was an adult, I believed her, so naturally I gave up, moved on. A few years later at 18, needing a college elective, I decided to try yoga. It was like movement had still been calling me all this time. By the end of my semester practicing yoga, I could touch my toes for the first time in my life, a wall shattered. Everything I thought I couldnβt do was suddenly in my reach. I immediately changed paths. I transferred from being a Marketing Major at Cincinnati State to a Theatre and Dance Major at NKU. Theatre is an art that I have always enjoyed and took part in as a child. I decided to take the risk to do something I loved. As a requirement of my new program I had to take Ballet. I was absolutely terrible. However, I now had the support of the amazing and talented Prima Ballerina Jane Green. Jane believed in me when I was terrible. She taught me you can change your body and be whatever you want to be with hard work. After relentless training with Jane, another moment I will never forget, she said to me, βStacy, you are no longer trying to be a dancer, you are a dancer.β My life shifted again. I realized I was damn good at moving. I realized my calling. After many more years of training and support from amazing teachers, I was dancing, performing, teaching movement, and training in every type of movement/exercise genre you can imagine. I decided my passion was in teaching. I want to inspire and change lives just like my teachers did for me.
I received my 200hr Pilates certification in 2009 and my 200hr Registered Yoga teacher status in 2012. Teaching intelligent movement to all ages and body types has officially been my full time career since 2009. I have worked all over this city that I love so much.
