Dr. Giselle Coelho from Mayo Clinic won the research competition at The Winter Clinics for Cranial & Spinal Surgery earlier this week, for a presentation titled, “Brain Surgery Training for An Avatar.” Pictured here are the fellows and residents honored for their research: Mayfield neurosurgeon Dr. Vincent DiNapoli, Dr. Megh Trivedi from Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Coelho, Dr. Abhishek Bhutada and Dr. Srijan Adhikari from Carilion Clinic, and Mayfield neurosurgeon Dr. Bryan Krueger. Michael Robinson, MD, PhD, a neurosurgeon at Mayfield Brain & Spine, is the newest member of our Board of Directors. A specialist in treating disorders including strokes and brain aneurysms, Dr. Robinson joined Mayfield in 2023. He completed his residency in at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, plus fellowships in Endovascular Neurosurgery at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla., and Open Cerebrovascular Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine, respectively. Cathy and Ron both had , about eight months apart, with neurosurgeon Dr. Steven Bailey at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood. Dan was determined not to let stop him. “I’m not one of those people who’s going to stop living because I’m getting older,” he says. “I can’t do everything that I used to do, but I can stay active.” His latest operation was a two-stage procedure with neurosurgeon Dr. Zach Plummer to stabilize and strengthen his entire lower back.
