Thursday, April 9
Colonial America - Who Came and Why?
7:00 pm - Zoom -- registration required

A zoom meeting presented by Denise Beeson.
What do we know about the British soldier, the indentured servant, the wealthy farmer and the enslaved? But why did they stay? The British soldier may not have had many options in his homeland, the indentured servant perhaps escaped abject poverty for a better life, the landed gentry amassed great land holdings and, well, the enslaved and convict had no choice. There is much more to the story, and we will find out how to research the ancestral past of colonial America.

ROOT CELLAR WORK SHOP
Join us March 11, at Sylvan Oaks Library, 6700 Auburn Blvd, Citrus Heights, CA 95621, at 1 o’clock till 3, in the community room. We will be discussing and sharing about Roots Tech! Please note this is the second Thursday of the month.

ROOTS TECH ONLINE 2026 MARCH 5-7
We will be discussing Roots Tech. We know some of our members are old hands at Roots Tech but some of us not so much, so we are hoping to share and learn from each other. We are asking everyone to sign up before the event starts and watch at least one presentation and then be able to share a little about it with all of us. The event is totally free for online.
Who did you like it? What made you pick that subject? After all there are over 200 classes offered during the event! The advantage of signing up ahead of the start is you have a year to view the videos.
How to participate? Go to Familysearch.org, sign in, there will be a Roots Tech link taking you to all the information on Roots Tech and a list of all the classes. There is a way to save the classes you are interested so you can go back and find them easily later. But please watch at least one before workshop so you can share!
And those of you who are old hands at Roots Tech can maybe share some tips with the rest of us!

As Root Cellar Board has not received any updated information on the Citrus Heights Community Center the Workshops for March, April and May have been booked at the Sylvan Oaks Library, they will be on the second Wednesday, due to date conflicts, 1-3.

Who Was Your Most Challenging Ancestor to Research?

This will be an interactive workshop with everyone being invited to speak and offer suggestions on records to use or places to look.

A short 5 to 10-minute talk should include:
Information about the chosen Ancestor.
Why they were the most challenging to research.
What lengths you had to go to.
If the search was successful, how you succeeded in breaking down your “brick wall”.
And, if you haven't fully succeeded, present it to the workshop group as a case in progress so we can suggest ways for you to move forward with your research.
