Food For Thought 🧘🏽💭 "Many hands make light work." Last year, I attended my first family reunion - it was for a branch of my father grandmother's side of the family, down in Virginia.

There were over 50 people there, filling the room of the Unitarian Universalist Church, where one of our cousins is the pastor, and it was decked out to celebrate. With everyone helping, we cleaned the place and reset it into perfect working condition in less than an hour.

As I walked out, I turned and saw the sign that we forgot, and I turned to my cousin (on the left) and asked him "can you be tall?" and he laughed and easily reached it to pull it down, with my nephew's (right) help, as our cousin the pastor (center) watched and guided.

What I received in this moment is this:
Men are good.🥰

As a woman, I thank Creator for the men in my life. I feel so grateful to have so much love, support, affection and protection from the men in my life - my relatives, friends, mentors, colleagues, clients, teachers and neighbors.

A recent study published in the journal "Frontiers In Psychology" titled "MANdatory - why men need (and are needed for) gender equality progress" concluded the following:

"While much gender-equality effort focuses on women, we argue that not only are men needed for gender-equality progress to be successful, but that gender restrictions also have significant underexamined effects on men. This new attention towards men will also increase the likelihood that gender-equality efforts will engage men, as it makes clearer what all have to gain. In such endeavors, it is important not to lose sight of the goal: to benefit all, not just those groups or individuals directly affected by specific measures" (Van Laar et al. 2024).

This speaks to my heart because the main inspiration for me in my work is actually a man who I never got to meet... who actually died at work from the stress of providing:
My maternal grandpa.

He is why I meditate, and why I teach about work life balance to this day. 🧘☯️
