If you’re sick with a newborn at home, it doesn’t always mean you can’t care for your baby.

I always tell my patients a few rules during their newborn education visit: No sick visitors, wash hands before holding the baby, and be mindful about who is handling them.

For breastfeeding moms, your body also passes antibodies through your milk to help protect your baby (in most cases)

When in doubt, check with your pediatrician 🤍

This really comes down to your comfort level.

Just because someone met your baby in the hospital doesn’t mean they couldn’t pick something up after. At the same time, your close circle is also your support system.

It’s all about balance. Trust your gut, set expectations, and make sure anyone coming over is feeling 100%. Even something like a runny nose or cough is worth rescheduling.

At the end of the day, you get to decide what feels safe for your baby and supportive for you 🤍

A little reminder for when people start coming to meet baby… they’re there to support you.

Your job is loving on and taking care of your baby. Everyone else can help with the rest!

If you want help with baby so you can shower or nap, do that! But if you’re trying to bond, figure out feeding, or just not ready to pass baby around yet, that’s okay too. Ask for what you actually need: dinner, laundry, dishes, or just someone to sit with you. You don’t have to do it all 🤍

Send this to someone who needs this reminder!

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends reading with your child starting at birth!

Even in those early days, reading helps support brain development, build language skills, and strengthen your bond with your baby.

Reading time doesn’t have to be long or perfect. Just a few minutes a day can make a big difference 🧡

To get started, check out our PMG Little Library!
