Grief is difficult, but you don’t have to face it alone. Gramer Funeral Home is honored to host a Grief Share Program. Join us next Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 705 North Main Street, Clawson, MI 48017.

This program is held each month and is designed to help individuals manage the emotions and stresses of grief after the loss of a loved one. Each session includes a video featuring insights from counselors, pastors, and those who’ve experienced grief, followed by a group discussion to explore how the advice applies to your life. Whether you choose to speak or just listen, you will find comfort in being part of a supportive community.

You can join the group at any point during the series, and we encourage attending at least three sessions to help you determine if the group is right for you. Grief Share is open to everyone, regardless of faith background, and offers practical tips for managing grief. Light refreshments will be provided during each session.

April is Keep America Beautiful Month. It is a time dedicated to raising environmental awareness about the importance of keeping our surroundings clean and green. It occurs in conjunction with other environmentally centered commemorative days, such as Earth Day on April 22nd and Arbor Day on April 30th. With efforts focused on litter prevention, recycling and community beautification during the month, it leaves a lasting impact beyond April.

Ruth E. Maxwell, age 97, of Utica, passed away on April 13, 2026, in Troy, Michigan. She had been a proud resident of Utica since 1962, calling the community home for 64 years.

On April 15th, National Titanic Remembrance Day, we remember that fateful day in 1912, when only 4 hours into its voyage the Titanic hit an iceberg and sank into the North Atlantic’s icy waters, with more than 1,500 people losing their lives.

The more than 700 survivors of the Titanic have all now passed away. The last of whom lived until 2009, Millvina Dean was only two months old when her family boarded the Titanic to move to the US. Her father perished in the shipwreck, but she and her brother and mother were rescued in the lifeboats. She died at the age of 97.

Observe this day by remembering those whose lives were lost and to make an effort to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.

April is the Month of the Military Child and April 15th, Purple Up! Day. A time to recognize some of the military’s most unsung heroes – their children. The sacrifices they make at home while their loved ones are out serving their country. They face frequent moves, school changes and parent deployments. The day encourages to wear purple to represent all branches of the military, showing unity with each other, support and gratitude.

The Air Force Reserve’s birthday is April 14th. It was officially established on that date in 1948 by President Harry S. Truman, seven months after the Air Force was established as a separate service. They play a vital part in supporting the Air Force’s mission to fly, fight, and win. This year, April 14th marks the 78th anniversary of the Air Force Reserve.
