Creative Connections and Well-being

Creative Connections and Well-being We bridge the gap between mental health support and creative expression with arts-based sessions in a stigma-free space.

Through workshops, groups, and partnerships, we foster self-exploration, stress relief, and community connection. I am Christine Atkinson ATR-BC, LCAT, a board certified creative arts therapist and educator passionate about helping individuals reconnect with themselves through creative expression. I hold a master’s degree in Creative Arts Therapy and a bachelor’s degree in Art Education and am currently pursuing a PhD in Expressive Therapies at Lesley University. I believe that everyone has the potential to enhance their well-being, find fulfillment, and cultivate happiness in their daily lives. I integrate creative tools with a supportive and non-judgmental approach, understanding that words aren’t always enough. Creative expression offers a powerful, non-threatening way to process emotions, and no artistic skills are required—just a willingness to explore and engage. I take a collaborative approach, helping clients strengthen their foundation, reconnect with themselves, and rediscover their identity. I am dedicated to providing an authentic, creative space that fosters growth, self-expression, and self-actualization. My experience includes working with individuals navigating life transitions, professional identity challenges, anxiety, stress, intrapersonal conflict, and art therapy supervision.

✨ 10-Minute Creative Intention Challenge: not every day needs a structured prompt. Sometimes the most powerful thing is simply giving yourself 10 minutes to show up on the page. Start with a single dash, dot, or mark — and see where it takes you. Creativity doesn’t have to be planned to be meaningful.

10-Minute Creative Intention Challenge: Pause + Reflect

Prompt: Take 10 minutes to pause and reflect on your week. On your page, create an image that captures how this week felt — it might be through colors, shapes, symbols, or even just marks that show your energy.

Intention: Use this as a moment to slow down, notice what you’ve been carrying, and acknowledge both the challenges and the wins.

Art Therapy Connection: In art therapy, pausing to reflect with imagery helps make your inner experience visible. It’s a way of honoring where you’ve been, while also creating space for where you want to go.

Today’s 10-Minute Creative Intention Challenge is to take one page and let your stress spill out onto it. Use lines, shapes, and colors to show how stress feels in your body or mind. There’s no right or wrong way — it can be messy, repetitive, heavy, or light.

Notice what it feels like to move your stress out of your head and onto the page.
In art therapy, giving stress a visual form creates distance. Instead of carrying it inside, you can step back, see it, and begin to release it. The simple act of drawing can also calm the body, regulate stress, and bring awareness to what you’re holding.

Remember — it’s about the process, not just the product.

Today’s 10-Minute Creative Intention Challenge is to draw your burnout battery. On one side, show how empty or depleted you feel. On the other, fill the battery with colors, shapes, or symbols of what restores you.

Burnout often sneaks up when we’re running on empty — showing up as exhaustion, irritability, or feeling like nothing is ever enough. Using art to map your energy helps you notice what drains you and what replenishes you.
In art therapy, these images become powerful metaphors for self-awareness and healing. Remember — this isn’t about making ‘good art,’ it’s about using creativity as a tool for reflection and self-care.

And if you’d like to explore this work more deeply, I’d love for you to join me at the Open Art Therapy Studio. Registration Link: https://square.link/u/JbZptUFT

Today’s 10-Minute Creative Intention Challenge is to create a mandala. Just draw a circle and fill it with colors, lines, or shapes that feel right.

Research shows that coloring mandalas can reduce anxiety and help you feel calmer and more grounded. In art therapy, practices like this offer a safe, creative way to explore feelings that might be hard to put into words.

Remember, it’s not about the product, it’s about the process. If you’d like to explore art therapy in community, join me at the Open Art Therapy Studio Sept. 16th.

Day 2 of the 10-Minute Creative Intention Challenge

Today’s focus: Draw Your Burnout Monster 👹

Take 10 minutes to give shape to the stress, overwhelm, or exhaustion that’s been weighing on you. Don’t worry about making it pretty — this is about releasing what’s inside, not creating a masterpiece.

Why: Naming and drawing your “burnout monster” can help take away some of its power. Creativity gives us a safe space to see what’s been hiding in the shadows.

Want more? This is just a glimpse of what we do together in community. Join me for the upcoming Open Art Therapy Studio Sept 16th — where we turn small practices like this into deeper, healing exploration.
