Welcome to all of our newbies, finding this page. Going to be a beautiful hot day tomorrow. We have a new friend Lindsay, coming in from Williamstown to bring us more plants. I’ll be bringing some plants over too. Stop over and say hi. Maybe pull a few weeds and lay some mulch. I’ll have the side gate to the garden open at 1. Come put some plants in the ground and take a few home.

Thank you Steve Mathis, for getting all of these tomato and pepper plants started. We spent a couple of hours getting everything planted in boxes and ready for the Summer. Also, planted a few more flowers and laid some more mulch down in the flower beds. Still need help weeding daily and putting the rest of the mulch into flower beds. Feel free to make that happen on your own time. There’s a picture of what’s done and all of the equipment is there for you to spread mulch. Also, all of the flowers inside the gate can be put into the ground on the walking path by the fruit trees. There’s some lettuce down there ready to be picked too. So stop by the garden this weekend and help get it ready for the Season.

Everything is coming together for the garden. See the beans are planted. Just planted some of these amazing sunflowers around the fenced section in flower bed, they all popped from seed last week in the CHS greenhouse. The rest of these plants will be ready to go soon. The beefsteak tomatoes took off in the greenhouse too. If you’re looking to be a part of it. You can see where the mulch needs to be spread in the flower beds. Feel free to do that at any time. This was the lettuce we gave away at our Earth Day events. Getting plenty of that now.

This is happening Saturday, in our own backyard. The earlier you get there, the better selection you’ll get. Feel free to buy a few plants for our garden. There’s plenty of room to put flowers in the ground, along the walking path. The tools are down there.

Thank you to everyone that showed up to the Earth Day Event yesterday! Huge thanks to our friends at McCanns Farm and Clayton Special Events that braved the windy overcast morning to give out information and plants. Thank you to former Mayor Tom Bianco for attending along with Commissioner Jim Jefferson and Council members Dave Chapes and Jeremiah Long. Now, we can lean on them to get the County gardeners involved with our garden, to make it bigger and better. Truly appreciate our handful of dedicated team that shows up every time and puts a lot of work into our garden, Linda Labinski, Steve Mathis and Michele Thomas. Greatly appreciate the new faces that attended and look forward to seeing all of you, that follow this page, at some point of the growing season. Still plenty of mulch to be moved down there if you’d like to help. The flower beds still need to be done. It’s self explanatory and all the tools are by the mulch pile. Thank you again to everyone that braved the weather and helped us out!!

The forecast is looking better for the morning. Come out and help get the garden ready. Want to thank our friends from Delirium, who were going to come play an acoustic set. Weather is still iffy and I don’t want to chance anything getting wet. So, we won’t be having music tomorrow. But, there’s still plants to take and some to get in the ground. Plenty to do. Stop out and be a part of another grow season!!

Missed an Earth Day post yesterday. Getting the garden ready for our Earth Day Event Saturday. Forecast is showing showers early Saturday morning then a little window between 10-2, with lower percentages. Perfect timing. As you see, we have fresh mulch, top soil, aged manure and plenty of flowers. We will have plants to put in the ground and some plants to take home. Keep everyone updated, but please, stop out and give us a hand getting the garden ready. How great does the flower bed look with fresh mulch?! See everyone Saturday morning!!

Want to thank our friends at Puglia’s Produce for all of the Hyacinths! Pulling the bulbs for the Fall. Bring much more color next Spring. Keep your fingers crossed. Weathers not looking good for Saturday. Plenty of plants to take. Come visit from 10-2 on Saturday. We’ve got a duo, from the local band Delirium, coming out to entertain us around 12. Hopefully, the rain holds off.
