The Mission of the Clayton Community Garden is to create a shared vision, to work collaboratively, and to cultivate a place for individuals, families and friends to learn about and experience the rewards of gardening. Our garden will foster community service, educate our youth and build a sense of affiliation and commitment among residents, businesses and local veterans alike. With an emphasis on organic gardening and nutritional education for all ages; we know that community gardening improves people’s quality of life by providing a catalyst for neighborhood and community development, stimulating social interaction, encouraging self-reliance, beautifying neighborhoods, producing nutritious food, reducing family food budgets, conserving resources and creating opportunities for recreation, exercise, therapy and education.

Working on the final details for our Earth Day Event on Saturday April 25 from 10-2. We’ll be giving out plants to take home and to plant at the garden. Live Music from 12-1. Looking for additional Earth Friendly Vendors like local farms, crafters and local jams/honey. This has been an Annual event for a few years now and it’s a great day to get the garden ready for the Summer. Thank you Linda Labinski, who has been essential to this garden from the beginning, for showing up and helping me clean out this flower bed. It not only looks great for the Annual Easter Egg hunt, it’s cleaned up and ready for the Season. Please, stop by today for the Easter Egg Hunt. They have 12 vendors coming and plenty to do for the family!! Support your Community, there’s a lot of hard work behind the scenes to make all of this happen.

Good Morning! I know it’s still cold out, but throw the jacket on and shoot over to the garden around 9. Going to clean up the flower beds, so it looks good for the Easter Egg Hunt at AP Park this afternoon. Should only be about an hour or so.

Going to be at the garden this Saturday March 28 at 9 AM, to clean up a little around the flower beds. The Spring flowers are making their way up and we need to clean up the beds, for the Season. Hopefully, you support Clayton Special Events and the Vendors that will be at the Park. Hope to see some new faces to go along with the regular faces. Just wanted to pop on here real quick and say Thank You to our Community garden member or members that cleaned up all of the trash around the gazebo. Was popping in, on my walk, to at least pick all of the trash up. I’m ecstatic that our group took care of it. Together, we will make this an amazing place. Thank you again and please get or stay involved. I know there’s a lot of people behind the scenes working up there. Going to be bigger and better this Summer.

Fake Spring has Sprung! Flowers are pushing up at the garden on this beautiful day. Working on some dates to clean up around the garden, stay tuned. Annual Earth Day Event will be held Saturday April 25th from 10-2. There will be free plants to take home, plants to get into the garden for the season and other great activities. We’ll keep you posted, but save the date!

Stop by tomorrow night as we get some seeds started! As soon as this weather breaks we’re going to need plenty of volunteers, at the garden. Compost coming in, need to build a deck on the gazebo, put up the fence for the bees, cut back some trees and vines and get ready for the Spring bloom! But, we start tomorrow with some seeds, that our Seniors will take care of, for the next several weeks. Going to be nice raised beds over there too. Stop in and hear where we started and where we’re going!

Sleeping under a sheet of ice! Even held my big ass from falling through in some spots. Getting ready to start seeds and greens. Going to be an amazing year, at the garden.
