Meet Angie! ✨
What do you love most about working at Joy of Orthodontics? What I love most about working here is the people, my coworkers, including my best friend of 46 years, Lisa, who I get to carpool with from Durham and is the first smiling face you see when you walk in, building genuine relationships with our patients, celebrating life’s milestones together, supporting one another through the ups and downs, and seeing it all come full circle as former patients return years later with their own children for treatment.
What do you like to do outside of the office? My favorite thing outside the office is spending time with my husband, Dennis, our son, Nick, and his wife, Caitlin; life has taught me that health is a gift and time is precious, so I always take the trip, cherish that my family lives close, and find joy in traveling, running, and being together.
What do you love most about patient care? What I love most about patient care is supporting patients who come in feeling anxious about treatment, whether that anxiety is emotional, financial, or due to a lack of understanding of the process. Being able to put their mind at ease and reassure them that we will do everything possible to help them work through those concerns is incredibly rewarding. Guiding them toward a beautiful, confident smile that will make a lasting impression as they move through life is what makes this work so meaningful to me.
What is your secret to creating a warm first impression? The secret to creating a warm first impression is meeting people exactly where they are. For a five-year-old patient, that might mean kneeling down to their level, looking them in the eye, and helping them feel safe and understood. I make it a point to find something I genuinely love about each patient and to share that connection openly. By truly listening, I often learn something new, small moments and insights that stay with me long after the appointment and continue to shape how I show up for others.
