Full Moon Fascinations: Unveiling the Parasite Connection 🌕🐛

My #1 budget buy @ Costco

I only shop for myself and my husband, so Costco sizes don't always make sense for us. But there are still a few items I choose to buy at Costco because of their impressive quality and competitive prices (looking at you, meat counter). When I make my monthly visits, there is one budget-friendly ingredient that is always on my list: the Kirkland Signature Parmigiano-
Reggiano wedge.

I am a cheese lover—it might just be my favorite food. But high-quality cheese can come at a high price point. This two-pound wedge at Costco is my workaround. Parmesan cheese can range from $12 to $24 per pound, so $22 for two pounds of real Parmigiano-
Reggiano from Italy feels like a steal. It also lasts a long time so you don't have to worry about using it all up right away. Since it's a hard cheese, it lasts in the fridge for up to six weeks when stored properly (think: airtight plastic or reusable bag). If you are really worried about getting through the larger size wedge of cheese, you can even freeze it for up to six months.

Choosing a large wedge like this keeps me from buying the pre-shredded or grated stuff. I am definitely not shaming anyone for deciding to buy shredded cheese, but there are a few reasons I avoid it. First, many shredded cheeses are coated with starch or anticaking agents to keep it from sticking together in the container. While these starches and anti-caking agents are safe to eat, it can mess with how your cheese melts. I also like to use Parmesan in other shapes than just shredded. I top pasta or risotto with shavings using a veggie peeler.

Slices or broken-off hunks are great for charcuterie boards (or simple snacking). Cubes are perfect for chopped salad or antipasto salad. Plus, then I can use the rind for making dried beans or soup as it imparts a nice, umami-rich flavor into the broth.

Next time you head to Costco, consider adding the Kirkland Signature Parmigiano-
Reggiano wedge to your list. It will help save you some money while giving a serious flavor boost to your meals.

So, oxalates are natural compounds found in many plants. Here’s the kicker: while they’re totally natural, in high amounts, they can team up with calcium and form crystals. Not the pretty kind, but the kind that can do a number on your kidneys. Ouch, right? 😢💎

Raw Greens and Juices: Not Always the Green Light
We all love a good green smoothie, but gobbling up tons of raw greens or downing green juice like it’s going out of style might not be the win we think it is. Too much of these can lead to a heap of oxalates, and your kidneys might not be fans of that. 🚦🥤

Balance is Key
Now, don’t worry – you don’t have to give up all the greens. It’s all about balance. Remember, plants are medicine. Meat is food. Mix it up! Rotate your greens and go for some low-oxalate options like lettuce or zucchini. Variety is the spice of life, after all. 🔄🌿

Smart Choices for Oxalate-Wise Eating
Here are a few tips for keeping those oxalates in check:

- Steam or boil your veggies – it can help reduce the oxalate content.
- Calcium-rich foods during meals can bind to oxalates, making them less likely to hit your kidneys hard.
- Stay hydrated! Water can help flush out any excess oxalates. 💦

The 1 Thing That Will Fix ALL Your Health Problems….

That’s a pretty bold statement right?

If you see someone trying to sell you or tell you that this 1 thing will change your life……….

RUN

There is NO 1 thing that will fix your health problems because there is no one thing that caused your health condition.

Even if a person sustains an injury from an accident their rate of recovery is dependent on many factors:

❎ Age

❎ Nutrition

❎ Activity level

❎ Sleep times

❎ Mental health

❎ Community

What can you start doing today that will set you up for success that costs little to nothing?

➡️ Sleep - get to bed between 8pm - 10 pm, for recovery, fat loss, brain health

➡️ Nutrition - eat wholesome food that has not been processed, look for one ingredient foods and/or ingredients you can pronounce or your great, great, great grandma would recognize

➡️ Sugar - decrease sugar intake (25 g/day) or eliminate all together

➡️ Movement - mobility/flexibility, cardiovascular and resistant training

➡️ Water - drink half your weight in ounces of clean water (avoid tap)

➡️ Community - be part of a community that wants to improve their quality of life (avoid support groups where everyone whines and no solutions are offered or implemented)

And remember life is a marathon not a sprint so make it sustainable. 💪

Equipped to live normal and not in fear.

Equipped to decontaminate and stay on top of cross contamination.

Equipped with knowledge to support the body when mold hits happen.

Avoidance is not practical, not sustainable, and keeps you in fear mindset. The fear feeds your sympathetic nervous system and creates deep trauma/PTSD.
